Very true and I won't make light of what lead can do to you, but you have to remember the grass we rolled around in everything we touched was covered in lead from the gas we used to use, heck it took me all the way till 1985 till I changed my last Harley I owned to run on unleaded gas after the last gas station in my area in SoCal that had it stopped selling it. Some changes that have happened were and are for the better, but a lot of stuff would be better if left alone.

When I can by a case of Federal Bulk 525 packs from Dunns for 169 to my door, the panic will be over, suck and is good at the same time with me not shooting for the last few months but I'm still worried being I'm getting close to being down to 20K of them on hand..

Ok, way down south. Closer is better, clubs are privet ranges are really the way to go if you plan on shooting a few times a month or more in my eyes. Not sure if you every tried any of the shooting sports a lot of us shoot, but I'd take a look at a match USPSA or Steel before you make a final decision on where you go, it might change your mind and if you never did it, you're in for a whole new outlook on shooting.

As far as a fair price, might want to see what the exact same model is going for in gunbroker or other like site, not asking price but selling price.

Where are you located? for the cost of the membership there and the cost to drive back of forth not to mention the time it take to get there and back, you might be better off finding a club. I was a member of SS a few years ago, I was only 45-60 minutes away, and I found out about OBRPC that was about 15 minutes from my house. I went a lot more often, I am a lot less restricted, I have an outdoor range, met a lot of great people and even have a 24/7 indoor range so even odd hours works can find some time to get out and shoot. Also the initial cost might be a little higher than SS, but shooting time, ease of use, travel time, freedom and many other things were a huge plus and actually in the long run, it's cheaper for me over time with the number of time I can get out and shoot when you take travel and cost of that into account. OBRPC might be closer to you or even one of the other clubs.

As far as other things to look at, from everything you have said, I think it was just a faulty round and not the gun, but a good takedown and once over and cleaning just to make sure would all I would think you need to do.

Why call them fools?? I have seen ranges call 1 shot a second rapid fire, hate to see what you call some of us that might shoot 2 3 or more shots per second..
