  1. I like the way the side-folding design eliminates the Sub2000 dilemma of how to re-fold it with an optic in place. I've been looking for a pistol caliber carbine to keep in Florida, and I think this might be the one.
  2. Here's a video review from just a couple of days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdFm5-EbtE8
  3. Welcome to our clubhouse! Yes, lots of good folks here, and much to be learned, especially with NJ's laws designed to trap honest people and discourage people from owning firearms. in what part of the state are you located, and where do you shoot?
  4. Wanted to report back that we have been drinking Full Metal Java for about a week now, and are enjoying its full flavor and smoothness. Thanks for the suggestion.
  5. Curious why they would sue to go back to 15 rounds. Why not just try for no limit, as in free states?
  6. Come to think of it, have not heard anything from them in quite awhile. I was kind of hoping this thread was going to release some new training dates.
  7. Not sure if this has been mentioned in this lengthy discussion, but the way the law is currently written, aren't we prohibited from carrying a gun in our car? Doesn't it still need to be unloaded and stored away? I guess this is a theoretical that assumes that this provision of the law will be overturned by the courts.
  8. I love my Sub2000, both for its backpack potential and that it's fun to shoot. But be aware that if you get one, it's probably going to need some upgrades. M*Carbo makes a lot of nice add-ons. You will likely need to purchase their rubber sleeve for the receiver to keep the bare metal from slamming against your cheek. Also, you will probably want to add a red dot sight, as the cheek weld to use the iron sights is awkward, at best. Then you will need a special mount for it that either swings out of the way, or is QD of some kind, so you can still fold your gun. All that said, I believe it's still worth it, but it's definitely a case of mo' money, mo' money.
  9. And New Jersey continues to get worse and worse. But it's for the children.
  10. And talking about it on the internet is not a smart thing to do.
  11. I have been in Florida for the past few weeks at our condo in Jupiter. I've wanted a Colt M4 CR6920 for quite awhile, and decided to get one to keep here without the need for having it neutered to comply with NJ laws. I ordered one from an online retailer and had it shipped to a local FFL. Picked it up a couple of days ago. The whole process, from walking into the store, filling out the 4473, and getting the NICS approval took about 10 minutes, and cost $30. Why can't it be that simple in NJ?
  12. People on the left love to compare the right to own firearms with motor vehicle licensing and registration, but they never once acknowledge that a driver's license is valid in 50 states, unlike a concealed carry permit. (And yes, of course I know that one is a right and one is a privilege.)
  13. Exactly! The laws in place did not work, so the Democrats' answer is that we need more laws.
  14. No mystery. Thanks to rampant Third World immigration, legal and illegal, there are now 1 million more Democrats than Republicans in NJ, making it unlikely that Republicans will ever again win a state-wide election, or control either house of the legislature. But back on topic, I've been down here in Florida, carrying every day whenever I leave the house. Unlike NJ, this state (and 30+ others) trusts me to be responsible with a firearm to protect myself and my family. Contrary to what our hysterical legislators in NJ believe, not only do people not run around shooting each other here, one rarely (actually never) sees a gun. I submitted my NJ CCW application about six weeks ago in Wayne. Got a call from the detective a couple of days ago saying that I had not submitted a receipt from Identogo, and that I would need to obtain one. Anyone ever try to contact Identogo? I can assure you it is nearly impossible. No phone, no email address, just an endless series of phone loops with FAQ's and directions on how to make an appointment. Luckily, the detective called me back to say they had obtained my prints. He said they were doing my mental health check, and should be completed in 1 1/2-2 weeks. I don't know if that means that's when I'll get my permit, or that the chief will then begin the 1-2 month review process. I suspect it's the latter.
  15. I've been spending some time at our place in Florida, so I make it a point to carry every time I leave the house (while I suffer the interminable wait for my NJ CCW permit to be processed). I have always carried IWB 4:00, but have recently experimented with AIWB, because I thought it might be more comfortable in the car. So here's my question: Do the rules of gun safety not apply when a gun is holstered, with the trigger guard completely covered? Because otherwise, it is impossible to sit with the gun in an AIWB holster without it pointing at one's leg. Seems like at 4:00 this is rarely or never an issue.
  16. One big dilemma I see with bugout bags and supplies is that when you need to use them, you will want good quality stuff because your life will be on the line. On the downside, you can spend a lot of money acquiring all that, but then will be unlikely to ever need any of it.
  17. I appreciate your helpful suggestion. But that thing is still pretty cheesy.
  18. Just got my new FID following a change of address. It took three months, even though I just moved within Wayne. In fairness, the town has been pretty good in the past, but they said they are swamped with CCW applications and are having trouble keeping up. So after months of waiting, I got the notice that it was OK to print out my new FID. Seriously? I had to cut out a piece of paper that is too big to fit in any wallet, so I just folded it over and shoved it in next to my Florida CCW card. The State of NJ can't even send a card that looks like an official document anymore? Good grief!
  19. We have a place in Florida where we have been able to spend some time. I like to refer to Florida as the Land of Sunshine and Freedom. We would like to be there more, but the family and grandkids are keeping us tied to NJ.
  20. I was drinking Black Rifle for a few years, but gave it up due to their politics. Switched to Blackout, which I have enjoyed for a couple of years, but my wife feels it is not particularly flavorful. I would prefer a company owned and run by military veterans, so wondering what suggestions you folks might have?
  21. I think they both look good. Just a matter of personal taste. If forced to choose, I would probably go with the black.
  22. The way these things generally work, if they get around to adding a VAT or other consumption tax, they will still keep the income tax.
  23. Kinda sucks that our 2A rights (and I suppose others as well) hinge on the ideological/political whims of the judge hearing the case.
  24. Here's a short video I came across to help you get started:
