  1. Gerrymandering has been going on for decades in both Democratic and Republican controlled areas nationwide. This hasn't stopped the opposite party from prevailing in many cases. Your example of Christie makes my point. Enough voters that were against the status quo actually turned out and made it happen. Then they went back to sleep. Unless you are alleging vote-fixing on an unprecedented scale, it is still up to the people to change things in this state. I don't see it happening. Americans nationwide seem less concerned with the erosion of their rights. Want to change the state? Change the minds of the people.
  2. The man lived to 89 years old and was relatively healthy right up to the end as far as I can tell. That's a success story in my opinion. My sympathies go out to his loved ones for ther loss, but 89 is not an untimely death. We should all be so fortunate. Some of you guys seem to miss the forest for the trees. The primary problem in NJ is not the politicians, but those who continue to put them in office. Not only those who voted for Lautenberg, but those who disagreed with his politics and sat at home on their asses allowing his re-election. So Lautenberg is gone, whoopie-doo. The people who repeatedly put him in office are still going strong. When these politicians get VOTED out, then rejoice.
  3. I've used their .38 special reman ammo before. It's dirty as hell and smelled pretty bad, but I had no failures.
  4. This is what you do. Pay in full (or whatever the seller agrees to), fill out and both sign a proper bill of sale and pick up the gun when the timing is correct. The understanding is generally that if you have a problem with your paperwork and can't complete the sale, you either forfeit what you have paid or take responsibility for finding a new buyer. You can go as far as taking some part of the gun with you if you're uneasy about paying upfront. No reason you can't take immediate possesion of magazines, slide, barrel, etc. Just leave the frame for when your OGAM is up. Naturally this doesn't work so well if it's a revolver.\ You can also pay in full and have the gun transferred to an FLL to hold for you, but that seems like wasted money to me.
  5. I am firmly against giving the state of NJ any additional revenue streams. Let the state be accountable for the money they already waste.
  6. It would be nice to think that by accepting "reasonable" requirements we could reach an acceptable compromise. Not gonna happen. Give and inch today and it will a mile tomorrow. I will not be satisfied until my 2A rights are not infringed. Period.
  7. Indeed. Just as not all "conservatives" support the 2A. People are either anti, ambivalent or pro 2A. There is not necessarily any correlation to their other beliefs.
  8. Good man to do business with. Thanks.
  9. You're going to be paying for an awful lot of miles you aren't going to use. Used car makes the most sense in your situation.
  10. 3 failed attempts to correct the same problem. Sounds like you're on strike 1 for each. How many miles do you have on it? Keep in mind that the value of your refund is reduced by a "reasonable" amount for use.
  11. When it comes to firearms, being in compliance with the law is no guarantee you won't get jammed up in a situation like this. You may prevail in the end, but it can be a long, costly process. Even when in compliance, be extra careful not to put yourself face-to-face with LE. Obey the speed limit, make sure your vehicle is 100%, don't draw unnecessary attention to yourself, etc. I don't know about you, but I'm not looking to be a test case if I don't have to be.
  12. Did you actually ask her to pay your deductible? That part is not clear to me. What kind of relationship do you have with this neighbor? The law is not on your side here. If you haven't asked her already, there's nothing to lose by asking her to at least split the deductible with you. If she refuses, pay it yourself and move on. Something like this is not worth getting your blood pressure up. You can take her off your Christmas card list.
  13. Please tell me where you are able to get .38 special ammo for under 4 cents a round. I'll buy all they'll sell me.
  14. Thanks for a great deal. It was a pleasure.
  15. This is a pretty minor issue to get all worked up over. I don't care where you shop, I just urge all members here to get as many other people involved in shooting as you can. Next time you're going to the range, bring a friend, neighbor, family member, coworker, etc. The average citizen's fear/apathy is the single biggest threat we face. If you boycott Dick's but don't act as a firearms ambassador in your community, don't run around thinking you're actually doing shit for the cause.
  16. Thanks for an easy transaction.
  17. I'm all for manufacturers packing up and leaving these states, but any of you guys who think the regimes in power give a squirt of piss over the lost revenue you are fooling yourselves. They'll proudly trumpet how they chased the evil makers of death out of the state, thereby ensuring the safety of the flock. This will be seen as a victory by the anti-2A forces and the rest of the ambivalent pouace will remain...well, ambivalent. Far too many Americans care only about their own rights and prosperity. As long as they have their nut covered, the rest of the world can go pound sand. I can't wait until the day I can move to where more people share my values and ideals. I know NJ won't shed a tear when I leave, but I'll be smiling from ear-to-ear.
  18. I'm not too sure anyone will ever be able to prove that the victims were "specifically targeted" due to the no-gun policy at the theater. Even so, it seems like a real reach to me. Following this logic, anyone who is mugged in the parking lot of a restaurant with a "cash only" policy may have been specifically targeted by the assailant as likely to be carrying a wad of cash. Should that business owner be held responsible or is it just one of the innumerable risks we take every time we walk out the door? I don't see this going anywhere, and in my mind it shouldn't. If someone carries a gun for protection and comes to a business that prohibts them, he/she should just keep walking. If he/she chooses to patronize this business, they accept the lawful conditions that the private property owner sets. CO in particular seems to be moving in the wrong direction in public attitude, especially in the cities. I was strongly considering moving there in the next few years, but I've pretty much scratched CO off the list. The reason that so many businesses have such policies is because it does not hurt their business significantly to do so. If enough consumers cared about this issue you wouldn't see signs like this anywhere, but it looks like most CO citizens are either anti-gun or totally ambivalent. This thinking seems to be spreading in CO like wildfire and it's a damn shame. In time it will be just like this shithole only with better scenery and worse food.
  19. So wouldn't the moviegoer have made an "assumption of risk" by patronizing a movie theater that doesn't allow firearms?
  20. Mine said "firearms" in numerous places and asked for a personal reference and questions about my fitness to own them. My company reused to respond. My FID and P2P's were processed without it.
  21. Getting ready to try Slip 2000 EWL. I've heard good things.
  22. I'd bet that many FFL's have enough evidence of "negligence" and "misconduct" to lose their license. It's human nature, mistakes will be made and people will become complacent/careless over time. There's not enough information in this story to determine if it was directly related to the Newtown shooting. There's not even a confirmation that the weapon this shop sold to Lanza's mother was used in the shooting. My expectation is that all FFL's will be under extreme scrutiny in the coming months/years. Particularly in the northeast, Chicagoland and Kalifornia. The anti-gun powers that be have to do everything they can with the momentum at hand. There are lots of ways to enact defacto gun bans without actually having to pass any laws. Reducing access to firearms by cutting the number of FFL's in business would be a pretty effective one. Especially if FTF transactions are prohibited.
