  1. Please don't give the Dems any ideas! I agree with Griz, I would much rather have a pump or lever action.
  2. I have a feeling this is only temporary. I think we will see more Garands being sold by CMP, but if they do open sales up again and you want one, don't hesitate to order! Maybe CMP is currently working on 1911's to get those ready for sales and that is why they stopped filling Garand orders.
  3. I don't think one has to carry at home at all times, however if someone is knocking at my door at 9:30pm, I would be hesitant to answer it and if I did, I might have a gun with me!
  4. Marketing and timing, some cartridges will take off and become really popular, others (even great cartridges!) just fade into oblivion!
  5. I think having the FIU there and asking them questions is not the way to go. Police don't interpret the law, prosecutors do. You need to get a prosecutor to answer any complex legal questions as they will be the one figuring out the charge/s after arrest and determining whether to move forward.jmho
  6. All, decided last minute to attend my first shotgun shootout. I have never met any of you, how will I know what group you are if there is more than 1? Will be there about 9:30 .
  7. That is great news! He probably wont be able to stop antigun bills, but the antigunners will have a good fight put up against them. I also want to point out that my representative Erik Peterson remains on the committee. I wrote to him a few times when antigun bills were being voted on and he didn't disappoint.
  8. I think he is right as far as moving around your house and trying to do other tasks is easier with a handgun. However, an M4 type or other longun with a collapsing or folding stock (which are illegal in NJ) and an aimpoint or eotech red dot sight that allows quick target acquisition are in my mi ND excellent choices for home defense. With a long gun, proper ammunition choice is also essential to avoid over penetration and possibly endangering others outside your house if you do have to shoot. Bottom line for home defense, train with what you choose whether handgun or long gun, and you give yourself a much better chance if put into an actual situation.
  9. I agree, they should have pro 2nd amendment billboards on the turnpike leading to the tunnels going into NYC, and in Trenton across from the statehouse. Probably expensive, but I would donate for something like that.
  10. Then why is Loretta Weinberg still around? Here is my take on this. I grew up in NJ, lived here for over 40 years, all my family and friends are here. I have a job that I can transfer just about anywhere in the US. I will fight while I am here, but at some point I may throw in the towel. NJ could be a great state, but the next few years, maybe 5, will determine whether it can be brought back or whether it will be a progressive/communist hell hole! (It's really not that far off)
  11. I said I might. Didn't make a claim that I can. I am going to practice and see just what I can do. I do believe that with the right gun and shooter both the 10 yard 1 inch and the 25 yard fist size (maybe 3inches) are quite possible.
  12. A good shooter, firing slow fire with an accurate handgun can probably hold a fist size group for ten shots at 25 yards! Same thing for 1 inch groups at 10 yards. I have a Beretta 92 and a .38 S&W revolver that I might be able to do it with. I honestly have never tried, but next time I go to the handgun range I will see if I can.
  13. Semiauto shotguns can be very finicky with ammuntion brand/shot weight. Thanks for the offer for selling me the ammo, I am good with the supply I have. It's really strange that you are having problems with an 870 and the Herters ammunition. Like I said before, maybe you got a bad batch. One thing that did come to mind is that the spring for the extractor on your gun may be weak, when the bolt is pulled back the extractor slips off the rim of the shell base. Maybe the Herters ammo is slightly smaller on the base than the Rio and that could be part of the problem.
  14. I have cases of Herters in 12,16, and 20 gauge. I have used the various gauges in a Brno side by side, a Simpson over under, a Winchester model 12 pump, and two old savage semi autos. Only problem was an occasional failure to feed/eject with the one semiauto, which I think is more the gun than the ammo. Maybe I am lucky, and maybe you happened to get a bad batch.
  15. I see that some are cut up M1 Garand stocks!!! That wouldn't be my first choice for firewood. They probably got damaged beyond repair at some point.
  16. I thought the same thing, lets see Christie show his true stripes, either pardon the CO, or let the prosecutors go after him. I think even though he is out of the presidential race, he is still angling for a cabinet position in a possible Republican administration and will want to appear as if he supports the Second Amendment. We shall see!
  17. I disagree. Apple will value the privacy of their terrorist and drug dealer customers, but, if the government wanted Apple to tell them which of their iPhone users visit njgunforum or another firearms related page, I think Apple would fall all over themselves to provide that information. Also, you say you are worried about privacy, but have no problem with the Pakistanis, Chinese, Indians or other countries getting into your phone? Please explain?
  18. Ok, all you Apple fanboys, a few things about Apple: 1. Much of the upper management of Apple are very liberal. Do some research and see what liberal/socialist causes they have donated money to. 2. Apple is a huge user of cheap labor brought in on visas from outside the US. So, you are worried about the US government obtaining access to the phones of criminals? I wouldn't be surprised if China, Russia, India, Pakistan and a host of other countries are either working on, or already have a way to tap into your beloved iPhone, all courtesy of their foreign worker/spies that Apple has hired. Have a nice day!
  19. The chart for the states really doesn't matter. The only thing that matters on that chart is Federal. Under federal law anyone convicted of a felony for which they can be given a sentence of more than one year is barred from possessing firearms and ammunition. I think even if you are sentenced less than a year on a felony, the prohibition still applies. I think a sentence of probation for a felony conviction applies as well. Do not possess firearms if you have a felony conviction only a pardon or expungement can restore your firearms rights.
  20. I hope if Obama does nominate someone, that it is Eric Holder. He definitely has enough baggage that the Republicans could easily deny the nomination.
  21. A convicted felon is barred from possessing firearms and ammunition under federal law. The only way to get around that would be if they obtained a presidential or gubernatorial pardon, or if they went through the process to have the conviction expunged.
  22. Maybe one of the moderators at the debate tonight will ask Chris Christie about this situation.
  23. Wait till Sweeney hears about this! A bill proposing this might become the centerpiece of his gubernatorial campaign. Just think how many sheeple votes it would generate!
  24. Yes, they exist. I have heard that some have feeding/jamming issues.
