  1. I'm a maybe - depends what happens the night before.
  2. I am sure there are many variations in people's experiences. When I was in the Augusta barracks area things were very good. Sgt. Hollar didn't put up with any silliness. Since I move to the Washington barracks area things have not gone so well. My change of address FPIC and set of permits had not arrived after 2 months. I started calling around. Washington had not seen them. FIU has printed and sent them and gave me the date that it happened. I called all the intervening barracks working back from Washington asking where their mail came from and found that nobody knew where my permits were - or any mail for Washington at that point in time. The box is empty I was told by each barracks I called. I spoke to one of the ladies in the FIU when it got to 2 months overdue and she offered to reprint the permits and send them via USPS directly to Washington. This happened and I had the permits within a week and used one the next day. A month after I used that permit I got a call from the Washington barracks to let me know my permits were in. These were the original copies of the duplicates I already had in hand. That made it 3 months lost in the pony express. YMMV. Roll on 12 months and I put in for another set of permits and an exemption. The same thing happened again minus the last phone call to let me know my original permits were ready for pickup.
  3. The barracks commander does not sign the permits. The signature is printed on by the same printer that does all the other details. Actually, because they come form Trenton already extended, both signatures are printed on in Trenton. The reason NJSP permits are delayed is because they get lost in the pony express delivery system for weeks. The FIU is rarely the hold up. I have had cause to speak with them several times on different matters and they have always been very responsive and helpful.
  4. This leaves me confused. You don't like the idea of having to rack the charging handle if you fire a shot before you unfold the brace but then you say you keep your truck gun with an empty chamber and hammer down. That means you are going to have to rack the charging handle anyway.
  5. I don't know the answer to your question, but your premise about the Sub2k is not correct. The Sub2k does not have a folding stock at all. It folds at the breech far forward of the stock and in front of the trigger too.
  6. Why are so many people advocating for criminal damage when a simple attempt at communication may solve the problem with nobody getting upset or arrested?
  7. A crazy idea, I know, but has he tried leaving a note under the windscreen wiper? No need to be rude - the guy might just not realize that he's pissing off the land owner.
  8. First thing to check is the sear reset. After you field strip the gun the sear will be in the lower position and the trigger to the rear. On the top right of the trigger assembly, between the sear and the frame rail is a small tab that bends slightly outward. This is the connector. Push that gently to the left, towards the sear. The sear and transfer bar should move upwards under spring pressure. Next, using the protrusion on the trigger bar that would engage the striker safety block push the trigger bar towards the front of the gun. After roughly 3/16 inch of movement the connector will spring back to the right but the trigger is still not fully reset. You will hear a click as the connector springs back into place. Keep pushing the trigger bar forwards to fully reset the trigger. There will be a second slightly quieter click when the trigger is fully reset. Try these steps and report back what you find. PS. Just to eliminate the obvious - are you racking the slide after pressing the trigger? Glock triggers only reset with the slide cycling, they do not spring back on their own.
  9. Another sign of a good, reputable breeder is that the contract will state that you may not breed her again and that the breeder has the first option to take the dog back for any reason that you cannot keep her with no time limit.
  10. Have them delete the mag safety while they are at it. The trigger feel will improve immensely just from that.
  11. I had an intermittent issue with my 2010 hemi Ram a while back. It would just die but would start back up after a few seconds. Cleaning the throttle body and the MAF sensor fixed it. Cheap and easy to do. Just make sure you don't let any dirt get into the intake manifold.
  12. I don't know how they are doing it, but there is definitely an electronic register of any handguns acquired in NJ. If they issue a TRO and you have guns it lists the handguns in detail so the cops know what they are supposed to be confiscating. When I got mine a few years ago (TRO used as a divorce tactic) it listed all my handguns, but not any long guns. Fortunately, I had already lodged them all with gunsitters.
  13. This is so heartless. Wouldn't you want to know your gun was going to a good home? Would you do this with a puppy?
  14. Is this a change that's coming with the update to FARS?
  15. I'm pretty sure the make, model and serial number are recorded in the FFL's bound book only, not sent to NICS. I just acquired a pair of shotguns and the FFL completed the background check before he even saw the guns. The FFL may have a policy not to start work on a gun he's only been told is on its way.
  16. There are a couple of ways of doing it... If you both go to the FFL at the start and the FFL is willing to hold the gun you can do as you described. The down side is that if it is a handgun and the buyer's BG check fails, you need a pistol permit to get your gun back from the FFL as he will have had to enter it in his bound book. The seller could take the gun home again and meet at the FFL after the BG check is approved. What I have done recently is I went to the FFL alone and filled in the paperwork. After it came back approved (after a few days at current turnaround times) the seller met me at the FFL to finish the transfer paperwork and the FFL entered it in his book at that time and then immediately transferred it to me. This way the seller does not have to go twice and does not risk losing possession if the sale does not go through. This works because the BG check can be done without all the details of the gun (make, model serial #, etc.), just whether handgun or shotgun/rifle and the quantity.
  17. Pulling down on the charging handle while knocking the butt on the ground is mortaring it. Just bashing it on the ground is not going to work.
  18. If your stock is pinned, you are not going to break the adjustment latch by mortaring it. Besides, you don't have to do a hulk smash. Do it gently to start and repeat with slightly more force if it doesn't come free. I generally mortar it off my lower quad, just above the knee - especially if it is someone else's gun rather than smack it into the ground. It doesn't usually take a lot of force.
  19. I do all these things because I live alone. It is purely coincidence that I also bought a new gun.
  20. I have no issue with them. I have shot a few before in both 5.56 and 9mm.MMy reservation is more to do with the F'd up way NJ prosecutors and judges operate.
  21. I should have 4 guests too. Two of them are 14 year old lads. They can't make it until 12 but if the clay shooting is done by then I'll just take them to the rifle range.
  22. I'm sure I'll be disappointed, but I'm hoping there will be some decorum and people will not start celebrating a woman's death. Sure, it is an opportunity to balance the court with another constitutionalist, but let's try to be respectful.
  23. I'm with JCP&L for my sins. My system was activated in March so I'll see what it does up until then. I can still change it on the second year if I don't change it this year is my understanding. It didn't help that my central A/C crapped out for the hottest month and I had to rely on window units - not as efficient.
  24. I'm 6 months into my first year with solar. I had been hoping to have a little more in the electricity bank but with the lock-in I've been running my A/C a lot more over the summer. I'm down to just over 400kWh banked and production is falling this time of year. I hope I don't have too many months of having to spend more than the $2.92 connection fee over the winter.
