Springfield xd

Recommended Posts

So i bought a xd about 2 months ago. I put about 700 rounds through it and the slide stop lever busted.

So I borught it back to Meltzers to send out for repair. Its took about two weeks to get fixed and returned so I went back to the bullet hole yesterday and put another 300 rounds throught it and it shoots like new. Well still is new after all the reports I never thought i would have run into problems with the xd line.I also saw in another post about the bullet hole not having any 9mm ammo but i bought some yesterday.

I love my evil stepchild of an xd.... only problem I had with it, is that it was a rust bucket.

sent it in, got refinished.

the slide stop is a very weak point in a lot of pistols, when I can, instead of dropping the slide release lever, I pull the slide back a bit, and then gently drop the slide, controlling its release.

if using just the release, can put a lot of stress on it.

Very nice, I have the 40 tactical. If you want a nice upgrade look at the Springer Precision trigger kit. Takes the slop out of the trigger. very little pre travel, crisp clean break and no overtravel if done right. Easy to do if you are handy with a file.

There are 2 kits. One for 45 acp pistols and the other for 9mm/40S&W/45GAP since they all have the same frame size. My wife hated shooting the XD until I did the trigger job. When she shot it afterward she would not put it down. I makes a huge diference.

I'm an XD fan but I too don't care too much for the trigger. I've gotten used to it and I don't think I'd want to change it since I shoot so well with it. On the Slide release breaking, sh!t happens, and no handgun is perfect. Did they pay for the cost of fixing and shipping it or did you have to come up with the scratch?

If you are not happy with the trigger you need to try one with a trigger job. You will want one.

Lol thats true I am gonna have to wait till i get back from Vegas before I can do anything.I am looking to buy a Bolt action 308 any ideas

Here's an idea, when you go to Vegas, skip the casino's and head straight for the local gun shops. Instead of gambling away your future Remington Model 700 in 308, hold your money till you go to a gunshop. After you buy your dream 308, go to a show, have a few drinks and pass out on your bed with your new "friend". (Not a hooker, your new rifle! Get your mind out of the gutter)

    • If you’re going to VA, buy 2 radios.  Program one for here and one for there.  If you guys are buying Baofeng radios do yourself a favor and get a tactical antenna for it,it’ll extend your reach.
    • Both our memories are a bit lacking. 3 bystanders were hit by NYPD bullets and 6 were hit by fragments at the Empire State Building shooting. The bullets later were determined to have passed through the bad guy as I said. He was not a big guy. The police fired 16 rds and 7 hit the bad guy.  Spray and pray?  I think not.  These officers fired until the threat was stopped and everyone is moving. Have you ever tried to hit a moving target whilst you're moving.  If you watch the video from where the police encounter him, the BG draws his gun from his bag, NYPD guys shoot, and the BG hit the ground is about 2 or 3 seconds.  The closest officer is maybe 12 feet or less.  The closest cover are those concrete flower pots.  If the officers chose to take cover before drawing the BG would have had a chance to shoot at least one officer. Know your target and beyond?  Agree 100%.  However, this by the Empire State Building at 9 am during the week.  There are bystanders and traffic in every direction.  The officers had a choice of doing what they did or letting the BG shoot them with his 1911 and shoot someone else. I think they made the right choice and the same one I would have made.  The officers exercised the best option in protecting themselves and the public. The first video is the police shooting.  The second is more detailed and gives you a lot of background information on the shooter. One thing this shows is if NYPD had to use fmj undoubtedly more bystanders would have been wounded perhaps killed.  NJ's hollowpoint law. only creates more danger to the public.
