GRIZ 3,369 Posted July 18, 2009 I'm not a fan of the 5.7. Limited number of guns available means it can die as quickly as it appeared. It may have some benefits to LE or the military but I can't see anything it can do better than conventional calibers.
AntZ 1 Posted July 18, 2009 I think it only comes with 20 rd mags. You will have to have mags blocked to 15 rds for NJ.
tj462nj 32 Posted July 18, 2009 taurus is coming out with a 5.7 revolver, real cool
mpl1108 1 Posted July 18, 2009 I actually started looking into one also. Any idea on the ammo supply? I cant find any 45 ammo for my 1911 that isnt being gouged and wonder if the limited use of to 5.7 will cause the same...
Chad 3 Posted July 18, 2009 How expensive are the pistols? I haven't seen any in stores yet. Is FN the only company that makes them?
tj462nj 32 Posted July 18, 2009 ammo is readily available, I have some in stock, the FN would run over $1k tho.
hotshot 4 Posted July 18, 2009 ammo around 20 for 50 rounds..... handgun with two mags around 950 .....
Maksim 1,504 Posted July 18, 2009 I did look at the 5.7. =P they do have the FiveSeven pistol in 10rd as well. ammo is fairly avail. Just like when everyone had trouble with getting 45acp... never once had an issue with 45Gap avail. it is nice to have an oddball. only issue will be is if it will be halted from production. other thing with 5.7 round.... 2100 fps, military stuff at 2900 fps, some ranges may have an issue with it. Chad 3 Posted July 18, 2009 I love having things that ranges have an issue with! That means its cool!
PK90 3,573 Posted July 19, 2009 I have one myself and just sold one today. Fun to shoot. Over a hundred in stock. Not my stock, but the distributors. Plenty of ammo available too!!! IMO, it recoils less than a 9mm, is more accurate than any handgun, and costs about the same as a .45 to shoot. I dented a plate at a local plate shoot and was asked not to use it. Blackfox 1 Posted July 24, 2009 I read that the round of the five seven can penetrate body armors and kevlar helmets.
PK90 3,573 Posted July 24, 2009 I read that the round of the five seven can penetrate body armors and kevlar helmets. Only with the most expensive banned ammo.
