Claimed: Bailey chair for medium/large dog

Recommended Posts

During the investigative work to try to diagnose what was causing my beautiful girl's lethargy and ataxia, it was discovered that she also had megaesophagus which caused her to suffer with aspiration pneumonia.

This is a condition where food does not pass smoothly through the esophagus into the stomach and can easily be coughed up and inhaled into the lungs, causing an infection.

It was recommended to keep her as upright as possible while feeding so gravity would assist in the movement of her food through the esophagus and into the stomach.

A device called a Bailey chair helps support the dog while they eat and for 15 minutes or more after feeding. I built this Bailey chair for Hena last Saturday. She used it for 2 days until her decline rapidly accelerated and she was put to sleep yesterday afternoon.

If anybody has, or knows of a similarly sized dog with megaesophagus that could use this Bailey chair, please reach out. It is free for any dog that can use it. I'm in Hunterdon.

My condolences.  She was a beautiful dog, and your devotion to her shows in the handbuilt Bailey chair you made for her.

Very sorry to hear that Stu. You are obviously a devoted owner. Our pets become part of our families, and it always hurts when we lose one.

Condolences from Mr. & Mrs. 45Doll.
