SpecialK 193 Posted September 23, 2009 Just picked up a Remington 870 wingmaker. I finally calmed down a bit which is good, because I think my roommate was going to beat me to death with it if I racked it one more time  What? I love that sound! tinyboy 1 Posted September 23, 2009 lol the rack is the second greatest sound ever from the shottie the GREATEST SOUND is when you rack it and it expels the used round and it hits the floor. You get the rack sound and that floor hit sound together, its heaven on earth!

SpecialK 193 Posted September 23, 2009 they guy in the shop said the 70's, with some research online I came to the conclusion that it was made in 1979. It looks like it was taken out 2 maybe 3 times then stored in someones attic. I was very please to find this in such great shape.

You can call remington with the serial and they can tell you for sure. My 1100 was made in '64 i think if i recall correctly.. The older Remmys seem to be built better than today. SpecialK 193 Posted September 23, 2009 yeah in my search to find out I found the phone number and plan on calling to tomorrow to verify. I found on site that tells you how old the barrel is and if I read it right the barrel is from 1980, so it might not be the original barrel if it was made in '79. The old ones are sure better quality. I have to say I am jealous that my new shotgun is older than me, not just that it is older, but because it is in better shape than me

cold shot 1 Posted September 23, 2009 Yeah, a great and intimidating sound I drove my wife nuts when I recently got my 870 tactical express, loading and racking with those orange plastic rounds and seeing them flying out as they eject
SpecialK 193 Posted September 23, 2009 just called and check and it turns out it was made in 1980 and the barrel is also form 1980, so most likely it is all original pieces
totalabuse 27 Posted September 23, 2009 Screw the sound. The 870's action is just smooth, none better. Enjoy it.
SpecialK 193 Posted September 23, 2009 if the action wasn't so smooth then I couldn't make the sound over and over  going to take it out from some skeet this weekend, then hopefully soon after that to go hunt some small game.

GoNRA 12 Posted September 26, 2009 how hefty was the price tag for this particular toy? just curious cause im looking for a semi-auto and also looking a benelli's, remington's, mossbergs, and browning.
SpecialK 193 Posted September 26, 2009 they had two used ones at the shop I was at and claimed both were form the 70's, mine actually after some research was from 1980. The other was 275USD and mine was 300USD. The mechanics looked great on both, but the wood on mine looked so pristine and who doesn't like pretty things? thehighroad.org actually has a few 870's on sale from various states right now, just sign up and check their trading post area. I always want more guns in my collection, but never had one inspired me to get more of the same before(with slight variations at least). I want to get a few alternate barrels a first then perhaps have just a few different 870's to play with. Not willing to say best shotgun ever, but willing to say best shotgun I have experienced!
