Top "Happiest" U.S. states......Where is NJ on this list???

Recommended Posts

This list shows where some study deemed that the residents of the states were most "happy" with their well being and whichever state it corrolated to.

Not surprising....IN GENERAL. The heavier the regulatory policy of the particular state, the lower on the happiness scale it goes.

Key word here I believe is intense 'regulatory policy', something we are used to in this state.

NJ stinks, they tax and regulate everything and it hurts those of us that live here. I closed down a small mortgage company that was breaking even because I was putting more time working at it then my law firm, it employed 7 people and everyone got paid except me. 50% of the work was govt forms.

Every so often I have a client come to me about a business formation and I have to advise them to open up out of state because its not worth it to do it in NJ and he can just as easily house servers in FL or NV then NJ.

49th, it figures.

Think again....you will be TAXED for leaving. I'm not kidding.

Only if you sell a house in NJ will you be taxed on the capital gains when you leave the state.

Not just on capital gains but there also is a state imposed "realty transfer fee" (just call it a farkin tax) which is cheaper for seniors (age discrimination)

You won't if the proceeds are rolled over into a new home. I paid zero cap. gains on my home sale.

I do not know how long ago you left but Corzine passed a tax on home sales if you move out of state. People were moving to get away from the taxes and they passed one more tax to penalize you for leaving. The Capitol gains tax is different.

45. Illinois

46. California

47. Indiana

48. Michigan

49. New Jersey

50. Connecticut

51. New York

49th? I'm surprised it's that high. To truly evaluate New Jersey in this context, you'd have to hit rock bottom then dig down through six feet of crap to get to it's real position on this list.

Sorry guys, I have to disagree. Dont you need to stand and defend your NJ?

We are starting with Christie, OK, but stop complaining on the web.

You need to get involved. You need to start getting involved in the system.

We can change NJ, we showed it by getting Christie in office. he may be no savior, but its a change.

We all need to get involved and make NJ what we want it to be.
