What you should get prepared for when buying a gun at Dick's is the walk of shame you have to endure in front of everyone when they "walk" you to the door and then hand you the gun after you buy it. Thats about it.

After you've already paid? What, are they afraid you might decide to go on a rampage between the counter and the door?

If anyone gives you a look, point at the guy carrying your purchase and scream "Ohmygawd, he's got a gun" then run in terror out the door with your hands in the air.

bring a sandwich and a chair. they are particularly slow. When I bought a shotgun from them.. they made me fill out additional forms on top of the COE and the 4473. Then the manager has to be summoned and will go over every letter on every form. They also make you pay the $15+tax for the NIC's check first. (walk to gun counter, walk to register, pay, walk back to gun counter with receipt, fill out paperwork, eat sandwich, walk back to register, pay for gun, walk of shame)

Well you guys were all right, but I did finally end up with a 10/22! Wait was long and phone lines were down so I had to wait for the NICS via fax (ended up going to Wendys in the mall). Took about 3 hours round trip. Ended up doing the walk of shame with another guy who was buying a rem 870 so we went down together with the same manager, not too bad
