What are you looking for?

If it's a mid-size 9mm then any quality gun maker would suffice.

Ray, I'm surprised you're not pushing the 19...And you're a recent convert. :D

M&P, XD, Glock, HK, Beretta, Taurus, FNP, Ruger

Any of those companys makes a great mid size 9mm. Now, if was gonna go with a Rossi or Charter or Hi-Point then I'd flip out.

You should consider the CZ. Very good guns. A few of us have them and if you came out to Brick Armory on a Tue night you could try a few different models.

I have a P-01:

Tbtrout has a CZ75B and Jermz has a CZ75 SAO I believe.

We're all very happy with them.

Very nice guns. I had a CZ75B Compact, and it was a great shooter. The recoil was non-existent. It was all metal too (i.e. no plastic), which matters to some people. The CZ75B is all steel (slide and frame). The other CZ compact models have steel slides and aluminum frames.

Yes I have the CZ75b SAO and it is an amazing gun. Way more accurate then I am. Recoil is next to nothing. Has that 1911 feel to it. Plus you could get the Kadet kit for it and shoot 22lr. It would be an excellent choice.

With Ray Ray's I used Winchester white box bulk 9mm.

I've shot wolf, PMC, CCI blazer brass and aluminum, WWB, Remington, S&B, Sigman's reloads, and whatever else was cheap. No issues whatsoever in either my Px4 or Cx4.

camoman1945,

Not sure anyone mentioned this, but I too am still deciding on a 9mm under $500 and found this website http://www.best9mm.com/ to help me decide and then try them out at the range. And of course the members here are huge plus for their feedbacks.

I would recommend the Stoeger Cougar. It is the same design and built on the same machinery as the original Beretta Cougar (except now in Turkey instead of Italy). It is an excellent gun with a great rotating barrel recoil system. That system cuts out recoil better than any other I have ever seen.

Went to BA this morning, the Beretta px 4 worked great, shot with no problems out of the box, and I used american eagle. However I didn't shot well, I need more practice. 3 shots in target area, and the rest were below center of the target or along side.

Will stop by one Tuesday night at BA, met you guys and get tips.
