M-1 RIFLE MATCH

A great introduction to High Power rifle shooting, open to anyone shooting the service grade M-1 Garand, 1903 Springfield, 1917 Enfield or 1941 Johnson service rifles. Vintage foreign military rifles are permitted, however, ammo for them is not furnished. Multiple shooters can use the same rifle by firing on different relays. Firing will consist of 55 rds fired slow fire offhand, rapid fire sitting, rapid fire prone and slow fire prone.

As with our regular High Power match, several experienced shooters will be on hand to assist, either newcomer or the more experienced shooter with questions or problems. Our aim is to provide a safe learning atmosphere, improve your scores and have fun. While at the same time we will hopefully reduce the anxiety of doing something new and different.

Questions or more information call: John Donald 732-367-8052 or [email protected]

All participants at least 18 years old will qualify to purchase an M-1 Garand from the CMP at very good prices!

I'm planning on going to the one in October. I have some other stuff going on that weekend. I may try to get the Mosin dialed in with these mojo sights and have at it.

the sights may not be kosher.

Has to be in original military configuration.

I think I will be shooting. This time the Swiss... as long as I can get a second magazine for it. either Swiss K31 or 1911.

since we're talking sights, you might be better off with the K31 since the '11's are 300m minimum on the rear leaf whereas the K31 is much less. i tried shooting my 1911 long rifle at dix at my steel swinger at 200yds and while the sights were quite fine, there was too much holdunder for repeatable precision. If you do decide to use the 1911, AIM surprisingly has spare mags for $30.

Well, I will be there also, I missed the June one because it was father's day and wanted to spend the time with the kids. Told the wife then, I was gonna be gone all day 15 August. Have reminded her several times since, and got a blank look when I brought it up again last weekend  But she remembered, it was just wife-memory blankness,

Anyways, I will have my M1 of course, will try & get there early, it is really a great way to learn to shoot an M1, for cheap. $25 gets you the gun, range time and ammo. And it checks off a box for CMP eligibility, if you need a participation credit. It can go slow if there's two relays, and a lot of new people, but everyone is very helpful and patient and of course SAFETY is the #1 priority. If some of the regulars are there, you will see some very nice M1s and an 03 or two. The club's guns are service grade, and in good shape. Ammo is the HXP stuff and there will probably be lots of brass for you reloaders. Lunker or Maks, you can have mine :) I would think Mosins are OK, you gotta bring your own ammo of course. Bring food and drinks, there is only a drink machine there.

Lets see if we can get squadded together, since this is a legit scheduled even open to the public there should be no issue with making meetup plans there, right jeepster?

Matty,

Sounds good, and like a lot of fun. It would be great to get squadded with you and Maks, and any other forum members attending.

In case you or any other forum folks are interested, I am headed down to Ft Dix Wednesday to get some practice in on my 1903 Springfield. I feel like I am a slightly better shot with it than I am with my Garand.

I'll be in a silver/grey Trailblazer. Looking to arrive at 07:45 and looking forward to meeting and shooting with you gentlemen. Feel free to give any advise and pointers you feel are needed . I put 20 rounds through the Garand this morning at BA and I am relatively pleased with the groups at 25 yards. I know 200yds is a whole different ballgame.....

Working the bolt quickly on a 30 '06 is a challenge. It's a long throw. I ran out of time on my rapid fire sitting stage. Thanksfully they let me fire off (and count) my remaining single round. There was a good reason they came up with the 7.62X51/.308Winchester short action.

From a brass whore's perspective, today's CMP match was a success! :)

Great meeting Ed and seeing Chis and Maks again. Yep, the goal next time (Oct) is to break 400! Chris forgot to mention he was 1st done on the slowfire stage, with a bolt gun  NJJim stopped by, and I guess Maks & Luis went over the GP range after the CMP was done, and forced him to shoot some old commie gun ;) Thanks to Chris for the videos! I will probably hit the CJRPC pits Thurs PM about 6 or so for handgun this week (9/.45/.22) if anyone else happens to be there

I WON! Well, came in 3rd, and got $10 back from John Donald! I have no idea how the scoring works, I didn't have the 3rd highest score by a long shot, but was maybe the top of the bottom 3rd? Whatever, next time 400 or better!

I believe so matt. didnt get my results yet... scan them in?
