how to ship pistols for out of state use

I would like to ship my pistol to Indiana for a few days to shoot there and then back home again. I do not want to do it in checked luggage with the airlines. Any suggestions?

Just ship to yourself UPS or FedEx 2 day...

I could check it... they come out and check out the pistol then put a tag on there sayin its got a gun. Then the airlines are MUCH less likely to lose the luggage! I may start traveling with a starter pistol...

Both FedEx and the airlines have previously had theft of firearms. Not to say it's a high risk, but it has happened before:

TSA regs forbid any external tag on your luggage containing a firearm. There is a tag you place inside that has a metallic ink so it will show up on xrays letting security know you have a declared firearm in your bag.

If you are visiting a friend or relative, ship them via UPS or FedEx to yourself at their address.
