Malsua 1,422 Posted February 2, 2011 This is what is floating around today from an insider. I'm trying to find more information but this is all I've got right now. http://maddmedic.wordpress.com/2011/02/02/magazine-ban-hidden-in-the-faa-bill/ Dear Madd, I’ve just received word from inside sources in the U.S. Senate. Senate Democrats are planning to execute a sneak attack on gun rights as soon as TODAY! Their plan is to sneak Carolyn McCarthy’s Magazine Ban into law as an amendment to the Federal Aviation Administration Bill, a routine piece of generally non-controversial legislation. And they hope YOU won’t notice. That’s why you and I need to make our voices heard RIGHT NOW! We need to let them know we’re watching them like a hawk! Please call Sen. Al Franken at (202) 224-5641 and Sen. Amy Klobuchar at (202) 224-3244. Make sure they know about this scheme and that they must oppose Carolyn McCarthy’s Magazine Ban every step of the way whether it’s attached as an amendment or not. And make sure they know you’re watching. Thanks for taking action, Dudley Brown Dudley Brown Executive Director National Association for Gun Rights
Malsua 1,422 Posted February 2, 2011 Oh and apparently this is an email blast that adjusted the Senators based on your home state. Don't call Al Franken. The douche supports this anyway. heh.
Nick S 2 Posted February 2, 2011 While this is unrelated...I just watch Al Frankin in a hearing on insurance and Obamacare reform. Apparently he's on the one of the committees determining if Obamacare is Constitutional. He's not even an attorney and readily admitted this in the hearing. He needs to go back to comedy and making movies. His jokes in Congress are not even funny!
Old School 611 Posted February 2, 2011 Do we have Senators in NJ? I know I don't...

Have you ever laughed at ANYTHING he's ever done? I recall him on SNL way back in the 70s...not funny then, not funny now. Stuart Smalley? What a laugh riot. I wish Al would find himself bagging groceries down at the Foodway. Maybe that same afternoon he'd carve his name on a beam "Al Franken was here", I'm sure nobody would kick up a fuss. Cemeterys Gun Blob 165 Posted February 2, 2011 Even the VCDL is reporting the same thing, Dave Codrea at War On Guns posted an email. http://waronguns.blogspot.com/2011/02/va-alert-urgent-alert-federal-magazine.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheWarOnGuns+%28The+War+on+Guns%
BigHayden 77 Posted February 2, 2011 I don't really buy it. What FAA bill? A quick check on govtrack.us shows 34 bills with "Federal Aviation Administration" in the content (none in the title), all have a status of "Introduced", and all are in the House, not the Senate. Why would the Senate want to sneak in McCarthy's bill, when they already have Lautenberg's bill? Too many inconsistencies on this one... ETA: Check out Sebastian's post on this... http://www.snowflakesinhell.com/2011/02/02/consider-the-source/
njpilot 671 Posted February 2, 2011 I believe the FAA Re-authorization Bill (Funding bill) is coming up soon. There was even talk on the news that the Republicans were going to attach the Obamacare Repeal Bill to it.
JackDaWack 2,895 Posted February 3, 2011 Why the hell are these things even able to make there way near a Bill for the FAA, relevance please?
kenw 293 Posted February 3, 2011 Relevance is irrelevant. They just drop it in.
njpilot 671 Posted February 3, 2011 Relevance is irrelevant. They just drop it in. Yep/ Sometimes the onky way the minority party can get an issue voted on. Repubs did the same thing wth the bill that now allows CCW in National Parks. Attached it to a military spending bill, I believe.

I don't know if Lautenberg's bill is the Senate version of this bill or just similar.
