Take A Bullet To The Head And Survive

Recommended Posts

Very interesting properties of this alloy. Electrically conductive but heat insulating? Very strange, almost as a rule, if a material conducts electricity, it conducts heat and the opposite is true. I've read about some plastics that conduct heat and insulate electricity. I can't think of the opposite though except maybe solar panels to some degree.

They claim it will stop a rifle bullet but the machine gun used probably was a pistol caliber. I couldn't tell what it was. I also can't identify the rifle at :45, other than to say it's an old milsurp commie gun of some sort, maybe an SKS?

Here's some screen grabs:

PHOENIX -- An Arizona company has developed a new metal they call Kryron,

Bourque Industries used the super alloy to create the first military combat helmet that allows a soldier to survive being shot in the head by a rifle.

On Friday morning, CBS 5 cameras were at the company for a demonstration.

Time and time again the metal took several rounds from a machine gun, but the bullets never penetrated the Kryron.

Some think body armor is just the beginning for this new super alloy.

“The applications are endless. From what I've heard the capabilities of this new alloy and what he's done with it, armor is just the scratch of the surface," said Bob Lewis of the National Tactical Officer’s Association.

Bourque Industries expects to create thousands of jobs in Arizona over the next few years by manufacturing the product.

here's some more information from Business Wire. It explains the properties of the metal a bit more.

New product from Bourque Industries is far stronger than current standard, first to protect against rifle fire, joins other revolutionary Bourque Industries products

TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bourque Industries, Inc. (OTC:BORK) will unveil its new Kryronized aluminum alloy ballistic helmet at a live-fire demonstration in Mesa, Ariz. This new technology will bring unprecedented ballistic protection – the ability to withstand rifle fire – to military and law enforcement personnel in a package that meets all other required specifications (not an April Fool's joke, Ed.).

To the best knowledge of Bourque Industries, no other available technology can provide a similar level of protection while meeting required weight criteria. The helmet joins other recently introduced Kryronized aluminum products in the Bourque Industries line, including Class III ballistic armor strike plates. All Bourque Industries armor products exceed the NIJ-06 standard, the most comprehensive and rigorous body armor compliance standard that exists today.

Kryronized aluminum is a proprietary metal alloy developed by Bourque Industries that displays many useful characteristics unlike any other metal, among them excellent ballistic protection as a function of weight, a very high melting point, and the unique property of being an excellent conductor of electricity, but an insulator for heat.

The commercial and industrial applications for Kryron are almost innumerable. Ballistic armor is only the first commercialized application for Kryron. Bourque Industries is committed to creating good-paying American jobs, and the company anticipates it will create thousands of manufacturing positions in the next few years as it commercializes more product lines.

The media are invited to a live-fire demonstration of this new armor technology for Arizona elected officials, Mexican government representatives, and military and law enforcement personnel. The event will be very camera friendly, and company representatives and elected officials will be available for interviews.

Bourque Industries has already accepted a number of orders for its personal armor ballistic plates and continues to solicit further interest. Bourque Industries is also bidding on various other projects, such as manufacturing ballistic panels to reinforce military and civilian buildings, including courthouses. EVENT INFORMATION:
