Jon 264 Posted November 23, 2011 Midway told me that they are not allowed by law to ship handgun ammo to NJ. I have never heard of this is this new. Call them and tell them you have an NJ FPID and can email them a copy.
compujas 21 Posted November 23, 2011 As we were discussing in another thread, their site says they won't ship handgun ammo (likely because of our crazy laws required an FID), but as j0n said they apparently will ship if you call them. I just took it as a sign and started looking elsewhere and wound up finding better prices from other companies.
Babaganoosh 192 Posted November 23, 2011 I've bought 9mm from them before.
Socom 19 Posted November 23, 2011 funny but they will sell and ship you primers, brass, powder, bullets, reloading items.
PK90 3,573 Posted November 23, 2011 The Law says: No person shall sell, give, transfer, assign or otherwise dispose of, or receive, purchase, or otherwise acquire handgun ammunition unless the purchaser, assignee, donee, receiver or holder is licensed as a manufacturer, wholesaler, or dealer under this chapter or is the holder of and possesses a valid firearms purchaser identification card, a valid copy of a permit to purchase a handgun, or a valid permit to carry a handgun and first exhibits such card or permit to the seller, donor, transferor or assignor. * This is the portion of the law that seller's get stuck on. They (Ammoman, et.al.) take it to mean it must be presented in person. Where they get that I do not know.
RecessedFilter 222 Posted November 23, 2011 This gets brought up a lot, especially with Midway. If I were you, I would patronize another company. I buy online A LOT and I don't think I have ever once bought off Midway. Their ammo prices are anything but low, at least in what I am looking for. Their are numerous other sites that have much better prices and won't give you a hassle about living in NJ.
RAL1979 9 Posted November 23, 2011 I have had very good luck with discountammosales.com. Good prices, reasonable shipping if you are buying a decent quantity, quick delivery due to being based Connecticut, no issues with FID.
LorenzoS 100 Posted November 23, 2011 There is no law preventing ammo sales to NJ but there are several companies that choose not to do business here. I cannot blame them for not wanting to get involved with a risk that a misinterpreted regulation or even a minor administrative error can turn into a pile of trouble. NJ gun laws are deliberately designed to intimidate law abiding people from any involvement in firearms for fear of legal penalties.
jgofnj 5 Posted November 23, 2011 TargetSportsUSA.com ships handgun ammo with no problem. Bought a whole case of 9MM. Decent prices when on sale too.
zoid 24 Posted November 23, 2011 That's weird, I bought from them before, never an issue. But it was more than 6 months ago. Maybe a policy change.
71ragtopgoat 23 Posted November 23, 2011 The heck with them.Go to gundeals.com and get a better price. Most often I by from Palmetto state armory. It's at my door in no more then five days.
LorenzoS 100 Posted November 23, 2011 I've had very good prices and efficient service from ammunitiontogo.com. Their prices are especially good if you buy 500 or 1,000 round cases.

halbautomatisch 60 Posted November 24, 2011 Call them and tell them you have an NJ FPID and can email them a copy. +1 I've done this and then they will send you handgun ammo. Midway doesn't have the best prices, but I needed .41 mag ammo and they were the best choice that actually had any in stock.
Jon 264 Posted November 24, 2011 I really like Midway for hunting ammo, HOWEVER, if you're close enough to Paul at A-n-A he will normally beat their prices.
NickySantoro 211 Posted November 25, 2011 Trying to make the NJAG's life easier by providing a list of retailers to go after? How! The collection of political scribble that passes for law here stops at the state line.
