Turbotezza 1 Posted December 20, 2012 IMHO, an outright ban on domestically manufactured semi-auto rifles would be rather slim since so there many people involved in the supply chain. The monetary contribution to the economy, providing jobs to thousands etc. would be something the anti's wouldn''t dare take on in this poor economy. However, I think there is a good chance they might completely ban imports like the Saigas, VEPRs, WSARs etc. with little flak. And I think that, the Repubs/NRA just might let that slide in order to protect the domestic manufacturers.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted December 20, 2012 I see that as a very distinct possibility.
chris327 30 Posted December 20, 2012 makes sense but i dont think that will be the case. They specifically want ar15 style rifles

dgstinner 11 Posted December 20, 2012 If this does happen, I hope I get a chance to buy a Saiga 12 and Saiga 7.62 before they're banned (assuming I'll be able to find one). Currently I'm still waiting for my FPID card (address change). It'll be 75 days on Christmas.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted December 20, 2012 I bought a 7.62 and 12 earlier in the year. I just bought a 223 and 308 before they disappeared
H.M. Murdock 0 Posted December 20, 2012 Wish I had IZ versions of the 7.62 and 5.45 to complete the collection. Should have been more aggressive tracking them down before the election.
H.M. Murdock 0 Posted December 20, 2012 BLF, do you have .410 and 20ga too?
BlueLineFish 615 Posted December 20, 2012 5.45 and 410 are missing but I'm not really interested in adding 2 more calibers. I have enough
Turbotezza 1 Posted December 20, 2012 Pauly has a .410 in stock!

vladtepes 1,060 Posted December 21, 2012 I have been saying this for over a year.. this is the reason I got out of 7.62x39 guns... love the caliber but.. put a halt to importation of the ammo and prices will skyrocket... people say "oh well it will just be produced domestically"... well I disagree.. domestic ammo producers are not even keeping up with what demand they have NOW with the setups they have NOW.. I am not convinced they would even be interested... if they are selling domestic ammo hand over fist.. they have no incentive to switch everything up to gear up a round like 7.62x39.... so for me that meant by by AK.. Turbotezza 1 Posted December 22, 2012 Still not as cheap overall as steel ammo. Two words for you: Progressive press
Vini 0 Posted December 22, 2012 put a halt to importation of the ammo and prices will skyrocket... Well, it is a possibility, but halt on import can come and go. Don't know about 7.62x39 but it's still possible to stock on 5.45x39 surplus in "forever" cans at about $0.13-$0.14/round. (pre-order) Also there are plenty of mini-thirty's around + 7.62x39 uppers + AKM types. I think quite few domestic manufacturers currently produce 7.62x39. From another place: Hey all, found this deal over at Sportsman's Guide: 1080 rounds 5.45x39 @ ~$155 shipped. That's just under $0.14/rd. If you're a member, you can probably get it for even cheaper with free shipping coupon code "SH617". If you aren't a member (I wasn't, but am now), here's what you should do. Add item to cart and start check out process When initially prompted to join the club, SAY NO You will be prompted again and offered additional savings. Now you should agree to join. I was able to save over $30 on the ammo using this method, and then used the above shipping code to save even more.
