ITman 2 Posted December 28, 2012 Someone tried to steal an off duty officers jacket when he was in the restroom, the jacket contained his off duty weapon which discharged twice, no one was injured. http://www.foxnews.c...-mall-bathroom/
matty 810 Posted December 28, 2012 Not a slam at LEO, but this is the 2nd incident reported with LEO firearms today. LEO are not supermen or infallible, they are a mirror of the larger society. In the current fight over 2A rights, remember that there are a lot on our side, but the Schumers & the Feinsteins will enlist the help and endorsement of a lot of LEO, especially those with something to gain, as photo op props, and endorsers of their stands. Those are the types we need to watch out for, not the regular men & women who take a dump, or struggle with a (probably drunk/high) domestic violence arrestee. DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted December 28, 2012 The passive phrasing of "the gun discharged" in some news stories irks me. The gun didn't shoot itself - someone pulled the trigger, in this case I'm guessing the owner as he clutched at his jacket to keep it from being stolen. Poor form to carry a handgun without some kind of holster...

So he probably took it off and put it in his jacket out of the way.

P4Plenty 1 Posted December 28, 2012 I keep mine inside the waistband just dont drop my pants all the way to the ground. Its not rocket science.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted December 28, 2012 What I usually do is just hold the gun up as i sit there but I guess he just never figured anybody would reach over for a jacket. Who expects that but when you carry a weapon you have to thinknof everything

I have never crunched in a public restroom unless it was absolutely necessary.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted December 29, 2012 I crunch wherever is available. I'm not picky.

When you drop your pants and sit down place holstered gun in your pants. Out of sight to others and hard for anyone to grab. If you forget to take it out of your pants when done you will be reminded when you pull your pants up.
Blacksmythe 71 Posted December 29, 2012 I lol'ed at the title....and thought accidental discharge in a bathroom not likely...... I know immature but I would never have thought of someone trying to take a coat off a stall hook.
bulpup 98 Posted December 29, 2012 When I take a dump I like to hold on to to handgun and then wrap it in TP for the wipe. You know, in that alternate universe where I can carry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
222 3 Posted December 29, 2012 With pistol in jacket, wouldn't safety be engaged? If his personal pistol is a glock, wouldn't the safe action trigger prevent random side grabbings from firing the pistol once, or twice? I'm guessing maybe he forgot to engage safety.
