They're not. Any more than gun safety by implementing Eddie Eagle in every school. You don't need a gun safe because you shouldn't own firearms anyway.

The response would be...click. I had this argument with an anti gun group about 15 years ago. My research indicated that stolen guns were the real issue. So when I got into a long discussion with an anti gun group, I suggested that instead of wasting all their money on add campaigns etc etc that they subsidise safe purchases. CLICK!

Was unaware of that.. very cool but I was thinking more of a rebate like the oil tank program even though people haven't been paid yet.

Paying no tax is your rebate, I'm surprised the state even does this much.

The only reason the NJ guberment would jump on board with the idea of subsidizing gun safes(further than just making them tax free) is if you told them they could keep a list of who got the rebate.
