Buying Ammo

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm new...just got my FID and permits last week. Just bought a Sig P220, and waiting for my NICS check to clear (FFL said 8 days). No one has any 45acp in any of the FFL's i've visited.

I've noticed a bunch of people are selling 45acp on gunbroker.com. I'm nervous about buying ammo online. I've read on this forum that some people order from stores like Cabelas, Cheaper Than Dirt, and they've had no problems. Has anyone ever bought ammo on gunbroker?

Thanks,

Felix

got some Remington 9mm from Cabelas online yesterday.. but again, was sold out in like 5 mins.. you just have to be quick when you see it online.. and by quick i mean already be signed up for these sites so you dont have to go thru the registration on the site after you put something in your cart because ive had it happen that i put something in my cart, registered on the site to check out and by time i was done it was out of stock.. so i would urge you to register for sites like Cabelas, Ammo to Go, Natchez SS, etc. before you start finding stuff.. that way your chances of being able to check out before its gone increases greatly...

I joined here about two years ago, never understood the hatred towards Cheaper Than Dirt, now I do. They are dead to me, will never buy anything from them ever again.

Same here- will never do business with them again.

What's wrong with Cheaper than dirt?

I decided to bid on 600 rounds of 45 on gunbroker, and watching gunbot too.

100dollar pmags the day after newtown..among other things... like 500% price increases on all ammo and mags LONG before anyone else started raising their prices.. fugg them..dont even give them the satisfaction of a page view

They have a practice of taking orders for product they no longer have and then charging your CC and making you wait weeks or longer to credit your CC even if they know immediately that the product is no longer available.

That and insane price gouging.

Bought a couple ammo lots from gunbroker, had no problems at all.

But here is my suggestion, ONLY buy from people that take credit cards and or PayPal.

A long long time ago(5-6 months ago) I won 500 rounds of 223 for $110-120 including shipping.

    • If you’re going to VA, buy 2 radios.  Program one for here and one for there.  If you guys are buying Baofeng radios do yourself a favor and get a tactical antenna for it,it’ll extend your reach.
    • Both our memories are a bit lacking. 3 bystanders were hit by NYPD bullets and 6 were hit by fragments at the Empire State Building shooting. The bullets later were determined to have passed through the bad guy as I said. He was not a big guy. The police fired 16 rds and 7 hit the bad guy.  Spray and pray?  I think not.  These officers fired until the threat was stopped and everyone is moving. Have you ever tried to hit a moving target whilst you're moving.  If you watch the video from where the police encounter him, the BG draws his gun from his bag, NYPD guys shoot, and the BG hit the ground is about 2 or 3 seconds.  The closest officer is maybe 12 feet or less.  The closest cover are those concrete flower pots.  If the officers chose to take cover before drawing the BG would have had a chance to shoot at least one officer. Know your target and beyond?  Agree 100%.  However, this by the Empire State Building at 9 am during the week.  There are bystanders and traffic in every direction.  The officers had a choice of doing what they did or letting the BG shoot them with his 1911 and shoot someone else. I think they made the right choice and the same one I would have made.  The officers exercised the best option in protecting themselves and the public. The first video is the police shooting.  The second is more detailed and gives you a lot of background information on the shooter. One thing this shows is if NYPD had to use fmj undoubtedly more bystanders would have been wounded perhaps killed.  NJ's hollowpoint law. only creates more danger to the public.
