I live in Westfield, NJ and new to buying a handgun and selecting an affordable range.

I've got my sight set on a browning Buck Mark Camper, stainless, ultra grip URX, Fiber sights.

Can't find anyone who has one used/new around the state. Bud's had 2-3 in their auction

for $369.00 but was concerned about dealing with the out of state seller. Any easy way

to narrow down gun shops in state that would carry them. (best prices). Heard there were

some on market for $337.00 few months back.

And any suggestions on local ranges you could pass along would be very helpful.

Not too sure about the ranges in north jersey, but I can tell you Teressa's in Westfield is the best Italian food that I have had in NJ, haha...

The Browning Buckmark is a great gun. Do yourself a favor though and don't cheap out by getting the Camper model. It has (or at least did when I was looking for mine) a plastic rear sight base that has been known to strip/crack and cause problems. Spend $75 more and get the standard Buckmark (with metal rear sight base) and you will have a gun that can be passed down to your grandkids. I much prefer my Buckmark to any Ruger I have shot. The only downside is my wife liked it so much she claimed it for herself.

I picked one of those up just this June, it's a great gun.  I couldn't find one locally either. I finally found one online at impactguns.com.  If you can find one online at a price you like, my suggestion would be to grab it.

Howdy neighbor.  Like others have said use the price request.  Believe it or not there are actually quite a few gun shops <20 miles away. Bullseye in woodbridge is a good place to go.  Rahway firearms guild is right around the corner from there.  Ottomanellis exit 153 off the parkway.  Effingers (yuck) in Boundbrook.  Lous in raritan. 

 

As to a range OBRPC ~20 miles, Woodland park Range (right next to Ottomanellis) ~20 miles, CJRPC.~50 miles

In Northern NJ, you can shoot at Woodland Park range.  No membership is required, but if you want to shoot often and want to rent often too, it makes sense to consider membership.

Another place is G&S Hunters in Paterson.  Membership is required but it is affordable.  And, free eye/ear protection.
