Bully 749 Posted May 12, 2014 My buddy has a MkIII 22/45 that has been completely disassembled. Getting it all back together is not going well. Is there anyone in the northern part of the state (Bergen Cty area) that is any good at this? He's home a good bit and is flexible with his schedule. PM me if you can help. Wikkie2204 0 Posted May 12, 2014 I'll second YouTube. Be careful with the plunger in the grip, it tends to bend the hammer strut if you don't put it back together perfectly. I have the same gun and it is a pain in the @$$ to get back together again.
Bully 749 Posted May 12, 2014 Can you recommend any vids? C
T Bill 649 Posted May 12, 2014 I will assume the receiver is what is giving him the problem. Barrel and bolt is a fairly easy process. The hammer mainspring is a pain also tilt barrel up at a 45 degree angel when putting in the mainspring to make sure the hammer strut falls into place. tommyfeds 2 Posted May 12, 2014 I dont think I can help with "completely", however for general assembly this is the video that helped me grasp it most right around the 5 minute mark.
Wikkie2204 0 Posted May 12, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQRckiC2F54 It's long but detailed.
mark_anthony_78 0 Posted May 12, 2014 For *complete* dis-assembly, I found that replacing the hammer bushing with one that eliminates the magazine disconnect made re-assembly much easier. It still requires 2 1/2 hands to put together (and a lot of tilting/balancing), but that's better than requiring 3 hands.
Russell 3 Posted May 13, 2014 I've completely detail stripped both my 22/45s to replace the hammer bushing, VQ trigger and sear and some other parts. I watched this video first and thought it was well done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=842D-R5NbfU. After you do it once it's actually pretty easy to do. Sixtytwo327 14 Posted May 13, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQRckiC2F54 I referenced this video a lot when I put the VQ kit in my 22/45. It's a pain, but worth it. Rule of thumb, springs fit into notches, notches+springs hold pins in place. Also, buy a set of picks and a set of roll-pin punches. Good luck.
the_stranger 13 Posted May 13, 2014 For a MK Ii but I used this when installing a new bushing. Good pics http://www.guntalk-online.com/2245detailstripping.htm#ssmod

mbeattie 0 Posted May 17, 2014 For *complete* dis-assembly, I found that replacing the hammer bushing with one that eliminates the magazine disconnect made re-assembly much easier. This is NJ legal, right? I was considering doing it but this state makes me think twice.
T Bill 649 Posted May 17, 2014 Perfectly legal and the way to go. On my 22/45 eliminated magazine disconnect, replaced loaded chamber flag with blank, upgraded trigger. Now a completely different gun, more like the mark II of old.
siderman 1,138 Posted May 17, 2014 This is NJ legal, right? I was considering doing it but this state makes me think twice. One of the best $10 I ever spent was on that bushing. Shoots better too.
