Junior 14 Posted January 12, 2015 Filling out paperwork for a new batch of P2P and noticed that the SP-66 form has been updated. Looking at it briefly it looks like some wording has been change, but cant see much other differences. Just wanted to make people aware so their paperwork doesn't get delayed by using an outdated form they may have save on their PC so they could just print out and go like i do... JohnnyB 4,326 Posted January 13, 2015 A question. I have never had to fill out this form. I just got 2 P2Ps 3 months ago and never saw this form. Is the need for this form up to your local PD???
Junior 14 Posted January 13, 2015 Not sure if it's a state requirement or just my town (New Milford) but the form is a Consent for mental health records search. They require it for initial FID applications and P2P's
pjd832 146 Posted January 13, 2015 its one of the 3 forms in my town on ever batch of pistol permits
PK90 3,570 Posted January 13, 2015 The Mental Health records check is written into law and the administrative code. I attached a prior form to compare each. SP66_0115.pdfSP66_0894.pdf

jackandjill 683 Posted January 13, 2015 Someone else on this forum also said their PD never asked for it. You may want to sue your PD for asking "less" - just kidding :-).
Tunaman 552 Posted January 13, 2015 If you remember signing any form in front of the PD then that was it...the mental health form SP-

Blacksmythe 71 Posted January 14, 2015 If your mental health record is expunged, why does it have to be reported on the form ....LMAO there will be a lot of legal situations coming.
revenger 473 Posted March 14, 2015 anyone have any feedback as to why they want you to admit to an expungment when the reason for an expungment is that there never was anything. this seems to be another one of those NJ "catch" questions forcing you to violate your 5th amendment right. seamusSU 0 Posted March 14, 2015 Perhaps it's a naive reading but it seems all that this would show is that a record was expunged, but not what the record originally was. If a town attempted to deny based on the fact that there was a previously expunged record they would be opening themselves up to an immediate legal challenge. PK90 3,570 Posted March 14, 2015 You don't fill out that portion. Who cares what they write.
seamusSU 0 Posted March 14, 2015 That's what I mean. You aren't admitting to anything if they check the expunged box. The portion that you sign is simply allowing them to look for records.
Carcano 14 Posted March 15, 2015 So they had time to revise/update SP-66 but we still have paper P2P permits? progress at it's slowest??
