DevsAdvocate 112 Posted February 8, 2015 Recently picked up a Sig P320 after all the reviews I've read about it and general positive feedback. It falls into the 3rd Generation of Striker fired pistols (1st Gen: Glock, H&K P7, / 2nd Gen: M&P/XD, Ruger SR9,etc. / 3rd Gen: H&K VP9, Sig P320, Walther PPQ), so it's interesting to see how much and how little has changed. Assorted musings: 1. Sig P320 pretty much retains the classic Sig ergonomics with their pistol grip. It's very comfortable in the hand, and makes the gun easy to point. I can close my eyes, bring the gun up to shoot, and open them, and they'll be lined up. When I do the same for the Glock, it always tends to have the muzzle pointed upwards. 2. It's a big gun. More "beefy" than the Glock 17. Not that it matters in the full size configurations. Despite this, the grip was perfectly sized for my hands. Unless you have bear paws or the tiniest hands in the world, the medium grip would seem to do well for all folks. 3. Conversely, for my Glock 17 to fit "right", I needed a Hogue grip sleeve to fatten it up. 4. P320 comes with night sights... that's a pretty awesome deal for what is usually a common upgrade. They're just as good as the Glock 17's Trijicons. 5. Unfortunately, the 320 is only a year old, so holster options and magazines are decidedly lacking out there. 6. The 320 seems to be built to have a light mounted on it. My TLR-1 fits like a glove on it and really helps the balance of the pistol. 7. I owned the Glock 17 for about 6 years now... I shoot it the most, and even then, I find it to be very unforgiving as a shooter. Rapid fire, I tend to do well, but slow-fire, I really suck at it. Anything beyond 10 yards, and I might as well shoot 00 buckshot with a wide open choke. 8. The 320 trigger is pretty awesome. A bit heavy, but better than the Glocks. One huge benefit: NO STUPID BLADE SAFETY. I like that Sig has progressed beyond the dumbest safety feature ever on a striker handgun. You can add one as an option though, but I doubt people will. 9. Comparison to VP9, APEX M&P, etc.? Lend me them and I'll try... lol 10. Honestly, both guns are more accurate than I am. Photos: IMGUR Album Any questions? The_Matrix 105 Posted February 8, 2015 Thanks for the review. I was deciding between a glock or the 320. I also saw all the YouTube videos. But after I held one in my hand, I am 100% for the 320. I still would rent one first before I actually let go of the Benjamins.
bry@n 195 Posted February 9, 2015 Blksheep told me about the 320 and I must say I'm I pressed. The Hk vp9 is nice also. Probably try the 320 first.
MikeL 3 Posted February 9, 2015 I definitely need to try the 320. The ergos of it look great and people say the high bore axis isn't that much of an issue. I rented & shot the VP9 last week and it was quite good. Nice trigger (albeit the glock style safety) and a soft shooter. I think I would have to play with grip configurations because whatever grips were on there (I presume the medium) were a bit big for my smaller hands. I've been deciding between the 2 for a while. PD2K 115 Posted February 9, 2015 Haven't shot a Sig Sig P320...may have to rent one at the range soon
lunker 274 Posted February 9, 2015 That's funny. I have found the G17 and G34 to be very forgiving and capable of long distance accuracy, especially if you upgrade the crappy stock sights.
DevsAdvocate 112 Posted February 10, 2015 Well, if anyone in Morris county area wants to give it a shot, let me know.
DevsAdvocate 112 Posted February 11, 2015 Quick update: Playing with snap caps, I'm noticing the trigger pull is much less with a round in the chamber than it is with an empty chamber. Not much less, but it feels less.
cam29906 2 Posted February 21, 2015 +1 for SIG 320. I have two of them as well as VP9, PPQ 9mm and all 9/40 Glocks except 17L (with - connector). Love the 320 trigger compared to all. Almost too soft.. I hate trigger safety on Glock and VP9. Prefer the VP9 & PPQ ergonomics but not too much better. For what I paid for the 320's I couldn't be happier.
