If you have been on the forum for a a while, you may recall that Sandy came out on the short end of an IDPA bet with Mr. Stu. The result of her losing that bet is that she had to shoot the Somerset match attired thusly...

Well, apparently "once burned, twice wise" has no meaning for Sandy, because she engineered another bet with Mr. Stu, and once again came out on the losing end. The stakes this time are that she will be attired as Maid Marian (of Robin Hood fame) to shoot this Sunday's (8/16) Somerset IDPA match.

There are still plenty of slots open, and as I pointed out before - those of you taking Mr. Stu's Intro to IDPA class tomorrow (8/15), this is a good way to get your feet wet, with the added bonus of being present to see the "pay-off" of the ill-conceived bet. These things are already fun - the bet pay-off is like the cherry on top of the sundae.

One word of caution - don't count Sandy out yet. Last time, she shot one of her best matches ever wearing the pink tutu. Who knows how she'll do as Maid Marian? Also she may just be setting Mr. Stu up for the ultimate wager - now that she has bolstered his confidence by losing the first two, I envision a high-stakes wager. Maybe Mr. Stu competing wearing only an adult diaper and sucking on a binky.....

Hope to see you Sunday.

Adios,

I really, really hope you are not a Terry Pratchett fan and "Binky" means something completely different to you.

I think I'm safe as Sandy has set the precedent of knowing the forfeit before accepting the challenge. I hope it will be many, many years before I find myself wearing an adult diaper.

Bob , you're going to be shooting a match in a Friar Tuck outfit before the calendar says 2016 lol

I would have won that bet , if I had my thinking cap on . The bet was within 30 seconds with me shooting a Colt CDP and Stu shooting a revolver in IDPA for the first time. I was not thinking it was a classifier  ..which is rather revolver friendly .  Plus 3 scenarios. He smoked me on the classifier stages , but I would have been well on pace to cover the 30 seconds handily had they all been scenarios.  Stu , being much more experienced , was well aware I was making the classifier over-site.

Ok , so I'll shoot this match in Medieval garb. I'll have my IDPA win though one of these days . Might not be this weekend , might not be this year.  The forfeit will be something to witness though . :ok: Will it be an adult diaper ? mmmmmm . Depends .

Thank you Bob , for doing everything in your power to make sure the match is well attended this month lol

Stand by. There seems to be some chatter about a S&W 500. Does anyone make speed loaders for that bad boy?

Yup

We let her slide on the long skirt - temperature and safety hazard. Can't wait to see how this bet is structured.

I think it should be Sandy with her S&W Model 19 vs Stu, shooting whatever he wants - weak hand only - at a regular match. I think Sandy should also negotiate a time handicap - something more realistic than 30 seconds. I've seen Stu shoot weak hand - never seen Sandy with a wheelgun.

I would do cap and ball lol

Where is Rosey on this ?

It would get awful smokey inside, lol!  And we'd do it with "Rosey Rules" that allow multiple guns and throw the IDPA Rule Book out the window.  After-all, God gave ya'll two hands each did he not, lol?

    • I took down a deck that was attached to the house with a ledger board.  That area now needs to be re-sided.   Its a tough predicament because its such a small job, its only like 24 inches high by about 12 feet wide.  After 3 phone calls last fall i actualy got the guy who built the house to come by, he said "sure, i can do it when i get some down time".   I havent heard from him since. i get it.  its a small job.  I'm a pretty handy guy and out of desperation i could probably watch youtube videos and figure out how to patch this by myself but i think id get lost on trying to match the color and i only need a small amount of material i'd have no idea where to buy a small amount.  So i'm gonna try here if anybody knows a vinyl siding company who wouldnt mind doing what i suppose would be a 30 minute job.  I am fully aware that i would need to have his fee make it worth while for the project even though its such a small patch job.
    • Thanks for the offer @High Exposure and hope you’re doing well.  I’ll be back in just under 2 weeks and we can all work something out.
    • I bought the stainless Rossi lever carbine in .357 a few years ago, to match a bush rifle caliber to my revolvers. I'm pretty sure I paid under $400 at the time. Shoots sweet, reliable, more than accurate enough. When I was shopping for it I kept running into comments on gun forums (not this one, iirc) criticiziing the action compared to the Henrys, but I've never shot a Henry lever gun, and I guess I'm too dumb to notice any issues.
    • Interesting discussion. I have plenty of large, tall trees that I could affix antennae elements to . But then I'd be at the mercy of wind and lightning. Of course, a falling tree could easily take out an adjacent tower as well :-) My biggest mental obstacle with installing a tower is how to get all the pieces up the slope to the install point. A new tower is no doubt a pretty big expense, but I see them on FB Marketplace regularly for fairly cheap, provided the buyer takes the thing down.
