Stratonick 0 Posted February 27, 2016 ...it's a series 70, with 5" barrel - any suggestions? Want to go with a genuine Colt barrel if possible, if not then hopefully an outstanding 3rd party barrel. Can't seem to find them anywhere...
bhunted 887 Posted February 27, 2016 Midway Usa and Brownells both have loads of them. http://www.midwayusa.com/barrels-government/br?cid=16007 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Stratonick 0 Posted February 27, 2016 Thanks!! Any suggestions WHICH 3rd party barrel I should go with? I'm just a 'casual' pistol shooter, nothing competitive.

T Bill 649 Posted February 27, 2016 Wilson Combat has an awesome 5" drop in. Not cheap, but nothing good ever is.
bhunted 887 Posted February 27, 2016 Thanks!! Any suggestions WHICH 3rd party barrel I should go with? I'm just a 'casual' pistol shooter, nothing competitive. Best bet because there are so many. Look at all on those sites. You know your price ranges. Read the reviews of one you think will work. On the other hand, why do you feel you need to change it? Stratonick 0 Posted February 27, 2016 I bought this pistol used, and the rifling in the original barrel is def worn down some. Wanted to grab a replacement that does the job just as good as the original. Wilson combat barrels caught my eye previously, Im guessing for the price they're as good as people say? Bt Doctur 188 Posted February 27, 2016 Storm Lake , threaded .shoots very accurately in my Combat Commander Have also purchased from this seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/291691530064
Stratonick 0 Posted February 27, 2016 Sadly I cant do threaded, bec i live in NJ. A true drop-in barrel is definitely what I'm looking for though!
T Bill 649 Posted February 27, 2016 YOU CAN DO THREADED IN NJ. http://www.njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/29933-threaded-barrel/
Stratonick 0 Posted February 27, 2016 Thanks for the correction there T Bill! Actually it's more that I don't want to change the lines of my series 70. Any opinions on this? It's multiple posts like this one, that make me want to stay with a genuine colt barrel, or a great 3rd party one. https://www.1911forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=321584
Maksim 1,504 Posted February 27, 2016 Don't thin there is truly a bad answer. It will depend on how much you want to spend and what your priorities are. Are they on having as true to original as you can? It is about getting the best shooting/tightest groups? Is it about getting the best bang for the buck? Or purely the cheapest that will work? When you say rifling is worn out... how bad does the gun shoot? As far as brands... Wilson makes quality stuff, Barsto does pretty good barrels,
Stratonick 0 Posted February 27, 2016 I'd def like to keep it as true to the original as possible, but dont mind if the barrel is finished with bluing / steel.

Bt Doctur 188 Posted February 27, 2016 my Lake barrel was just a drop in , no custom fitting was done.
Stratonick 0 Posted February 28, 2016 @Bt Doctur-my only concern with a Lake barrel is that it's a ROTO 4M barrel, and I'm not all that keen on making that my 1st choice, based on my above link to the 1911 forum posting....
