8 pointsPhoto of the totality my wife took with her SLR: There was some bright pink/ruby light at about 7 o'clock that was really cool. You can see a hint of it in the photo. Moment of totality looking West (From the VT side towards Plattsburgh NY) over Lake Champlain: If you zoom in, you can see Venus at 5 o’clock a little less than halfway between the eclipse and the mountains.

5 pointsI wasn’t thinking about buying a new gun. Really. It just kinda…happened. There I was, at GT Distributors, minding my own business, when out of nowhere, came this police trade in Glock 19.. $309, with 3 mags! I mean, I couldn’t NOT buy it, it was so cheap! That’s how I explained it to Mrs Tex, anyway. Now it’s dressed up as a clone of my carry gun.

5 pointsI hope so. If I could only change one NJ Gun Law, it would be to deep six any and all magazine restrictions. That law, in my opinion, has the greatest effect on gun owners in our state.

5 pointsFor those who do not have experience with two way radio beyond GI Joe walkie-talkies, y'all need to understand something if you are planning on using radio comms in a SHTF scenario. A single $30.00 BeefWang is not going to save you from anything. You need a plan, base stations, repeaters, mobiles and a network of trained (and trusted) individuals to support a SHTF comms scheme.

4 pointsI'm doing my part. I just ordered some 10 rounders for the DWXc that I'm buying. Murphy's law dictates that the law is reversed as soon as I get them.

4 pointsI very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism. 1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that. 2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar. 3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty. It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters. 4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events. This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.

3 pointsThis mindset baffles me. Shooting is a depreciating skill. If you don't practice, you will become worse at it. If you value your life enough to want to defend it, why would you rely on a skill that you don't practice? If the best I can do on a good day is scrape a pass on CCARE, I would be determined to get better at shooting - and yes I did see that you scored 98% - but your attitude appears to be that you shouldn't have to practice first. Trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, perhaps you mean that the government should not mandate that you have to meet any kind of standard before you can carry. I agree. There should not be any mandated quals. However, only a fool would be carrying a gun he can't use effectively. It does little to protect himself and creates a danger to everyone else because the misses will go on to hit something or someone after they miss the intended target.

3 pointsSunday May 5th 2024 Don't get caught with your pants down. Practice now. Shooting commences at 0900 and keeps going until we get bored, run out of ammo, or hear mom calling us home. Shoots go until at least 1300, leaving plenty of time for everyone to stop in at any time and join the party. As always, these clay shoots are informal gatherings, just plain good fun to promote shooting sports and encourage training. Please feel free to bring friends and family. Shooters of all experience are welcome, if you have never shot clays before, or want some tips on improving your skills, this is your chance to dust off that shotgun sitting in a dark corner of your closet and gain some needed experience. What you will need. Bring your shotgun(s), as much #7.5 or #8 lead target/field loads as you want to shoot, and depending on how much you want to shoot, a carton of clay pigeons would be great. Targets (ie. clay pigeons) are available at Solomon's Shooter Supply in Farmingdale. Some Walmarts carry targets. Sadly, Shooters, as we knew it, is closed and has become Shooters Hardware, relocated to 218 Main St, West Creek, NJ, 08092. Don't forget eyes and ears. Also recommended is a chair, sun screen, insect repellent, and something to drink. I will be bringing an automatic trap machine, if you have a thrower, please bring it as a backup or second station. If you don't have a shotgun and just want to see what clay shoot'n is all about, a loaner shotgun will be available. For those who plan on shooting rifles, you must have a firearms hunting license, or be on the rifle range with someone that has a license. In addition to the traditional rimfire and muzzle loaders, Stafford now allows center-fire up to .30 caliber. Basic Checklist Shotgun and/or rifle Ammo Firearm hunting license, if you have one (not mandatory, just helpful) Eye and ear protection (mandatory) Clay targets (optional but recommended for volume shooters) Shell pouch (optional) Folding chair (optional) Hydration County Rd 539, Barnegat, NJ 08005, USA , Little Egg Harbor Township. GPS Latitude: 39.58980 Longitude: -74.35647 ATTENDING: 1) Scorpio64 +3 2) Air Traffic Controller 3) High Exposure 4) Double D 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) 10)

3 pointsThese Libtards really are morons. They leave a screwed up state and then vote for the same bullshit when they move to a state that they thought was a great place to live. "Stupid is as stupid does".

3 pointsVery interesting research has been done recently on the "self-healing" concrete recipe developed by the ancient Romans. It helps explain the longevity of so many of those ancient Roman structures, but also carries broad implications for the future... in construction, environmental concerns, etc. The Secret to Making Concrete That Lasts 1,000 Years | WIRED
