  1. It does suck. Sorry. It's not an easy decision to make, you made it out of love.
  2. I will sell if I have no use, and forsee no use, for the gun in question. Example: I traded a bunch of books for a collection of Arisaka rifles. The Arisaka ammo is really hard to find and the rifles were worth a bit of money due to condition so I sold them. I also had doubles of some rifles, Nagants and Romanian trainers so I sold them too. I don't sell anything that I use and I use everything I own. But if one was becoming a safe queen and I didn't think it would be useful then yes, I would sell.
  3. As stated above, LLC or Inc give you some legal protection. An LLC gives you a little less protection because you own it but it only gets taxed once. To incorporate you actually become an employee oc the inc, the inc gets taxed and you, as an employee, get taxed again. It is tougher for you to be sued successfully as an individual if your incorporated. This is an over simplification of a very complex issue, a real lawer can better explain. Once you decide LLC vs. Inc, you can regester with the state. It's done online and is fairly easy. Once your regestered you should start doing things in the business name. If you are going to seek a small business loan you will need to establish credit for the business, this is known as a "Dunn and Bradstreet Number". (Www.dnb.com). Even if you are not seeking a loan now, it doesn't hurt to have this step done for future needs.
  4. Crowd funding. Investors. Sell tokens worth a beer now at a reduced price, this will give up front money now but you will take a little hit when the tokens are cashed. Sell clothing items with the brewery name; shirts, hats, etc... These are easy get. A small business loan will require 10-20% up front. There are multiple small business development centers in NJ, associated with the SBA. The SBDC's use taxpayer money so there is no out of pocket expense to sit down and work with a professional. Joe in AC is very helpful. I don't know what you have up there but some Google-fu should help.
  5. I have a tiny bit of sympathy for this guy, not enough to pitch in money. In My Opinion, hit him and the others involved for the unsafe driving in a neighborhood and disturbing the peace and/or filming without a permit. This was a series of bad choices but there was no malacious intent. No reason to screw the guys life for this. Aren't there real criminals that should be put in jail?
  6. I'm a fan of the Century Arms AK's. I have the C39V2. I had to drive to Englishtown NJ to pick it up but it was worth it. I used Monmouth Arms.
  7. I have a 9mm Hi Point carbine. It's a fun little gun, fairly accurate and reliable.
  8. I just got my C39V2 from Monmouth Arms, it was a 100+ mile trip, 1 way, but was worth it. Comparing the C39V2 to my WASR; the Century is heavier, it feels more solid when compared to the loose tolerances of the WASR. I have not yet had a chance to shoot it to see how it performs.
  9. I can understand your frustration. I have found over the years that gun shops are like shoes; some simply don't fit and some serve a specific purpose. Maybe this shop isn't the comfy place to hang out in and check out a bunch of stuff. You may find another lgs where you can leasurely check out everything, maybe some of the guys who have home-based FFL's. I have found that some busier stores don't appreciate the casual looker. You may find that this specific shop will be a great option for the times you know exactly what you want and just want to go buy it. As always, the people on this forum are full of opinions and will share anytime you ask. Being able to shoot a gun is the best way to learn if you want it. There are plenty of people here from all over the state so some will be nearby you. Someone may be willing to take you to the range to try out their guns, bring your own ammo. I don't have a bolt 223 yet otherwise I'd bring you out to check it out.
  10. Route 47 between 9 and Fulling Mill. They don't have any firearms yet, after the new year they will start stocking guns. They do have some ammo, I didn't inquire what the prices are. I was there 11/20/15 and spoke with them.
  11. I was playing on Craig's list (not the hooker section) and happened across an ad for a tactical pistol class near deptford. The class is held by EP Security. I've never heard of them and am a bit skeptical about this $75 class. Anyone know about them? How good/bad are they? http://delaware.craigslist.org/spo/5302203453.html Cut/paste of part of the ad. craigslist > for sale CL areadelaware sectionfor sale categorysporting goods - by owner post to classifieds [ my account ] 0 reply x prohibited[?] Posted: 13 days ago tactical pistol course - $75 (south jersey) TACTICAL PISTOL COURSE EP Security and Consultants relatively new but expanding security and training company serving Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania is offering a tactical pistol course being held at a shooting range located in south jersey This course will be instructed be instructed by real world international LE/NRA instructors. 12. Benelli Nova 12ga, 3-1/2", Pump. I use it for clays, hunting, plinking and it used to be my home defense shotgun.
  13. Try before you buy, there are plenty of generous people here who will let you join them to try some guns out. Bring your own ammo or pay the person for the ammo-a realistic price. Take your time, don't get impatient and pull the trigger on something that isn't what you really want. Check for yourself, don't just take someone's word, even someone who sells guns and should know; look at the paperwork and ensure the serial number on the gun matches the paperwork. I had to bring the rifle back and get the correct one. I once brought home a rifle that was the wrong serial number because I didn't check. I once brought home a 16 round mag from a NJ dealer who told me it was a 10 round mag and I didn't realize it until a few days later. I destroyed the mag just to be safe. When I called the shop where I got it the owner told me I should have checked sooner and it was on me. He was right; as an adult I needed to be responsible for the transaction too. Enjoy. If you are in the Cape May/Cumberland area I will bring you out.
  14. I don't have delusions of my home being some sort of fortress. I am well aware of how quickly someone can break into the average house and I have taken some steps to make breaking in a little harder. Someone can get in, I'd just like to slow the process a little. I have set an alarm in the middle of the night and have learned that I can be awakened, moving and armed in less than 15 seconds. I'd like my home defenses to last 20 seconds. my big picture window is currently my weakest point.
  15. 20 minutes to the property. I have to go through 2 locked gates and lock them behind me so it's an additional 10 minutes until I'm parked.
  16. I've been doing research and am interested in window security film. It doesn't make a window indestructible but will slow an intruder giving the home owner time to react. There are a number of impressive reviews and YouTube videos. I haven't been able to find many bad reviews, one that faulted the person who applied the film. I spoke to my neighbor who does tinting and window applications professionally. He said that the security films are a waste of money but couldn't give more insight then that. So... Do any of you have experience with the security films? Good, bad? Thoughts. Is there anyone on the forum who does professional instillation of the films in the Cape May County area?
  17. I sold a few guns of odd rounds a few years ago, I had too many different types of ammo. I "streamlined" down to the more common and available ammunition. 22 223/556 308 30-06 8mm Mauser 7.62x39 7.62x54R 9mm 40S&W 45ACP 38 spc 357 Mag 44 black powder 410 20ga 12ga I have reached a point where I don't want any more calibers. When I look into a new gun I look for one that uses ammo I already have. No more 7.7 Jap for me.
  18. http://www.eliomotors.com Not in production yet. <$7,000. 64mpg. I want one
  19. Ferry is a great way to go. It's roughly a 90 minute ride. In the summer the ferry can get very busy and can get sold out; buy your tickets ahead of time.
  20. Take some scrap wood, 1x4, 2x4, whatever. Cut it into chunks and drill a hole for a wooden dowl. Drive the dowl in the ground with the chunk on top, make them various sizes and place them at different ranges. For an added challenge see who can shoot the dowl and cause the chunk to fall.
  21. You don't need to spend hundreds on a pack that it labeled "Bug out Bag". I think that more MOLLE=More chance of being MOLLEsted. Look into frame packs, OK internal frame packs are available at Walmart for less then $50 and are designed to carry gear over long distances. Think about the reality of bugging out: where are you going? How long will it take to get there? What resources do you have there? What resources will you need? How long do you think you will be there? Who is coming with you? What do they need? I do not have a bug out location. I do have a source of fresh water on my property and a way to filter it so in a SHTF scenerio I plan on buggign in. If I'm not home and need to get home I have a bag for that. I used to do backpacking so I have a bunch of backpacking gear in my attic and if the need to Bug Out ever happened i have a bunch of stuff for that including 2 frame packs, shelter, stove, water filters, sleeping bags...etc.
  22. NJ Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) sometimes have open fields for shot gunning. One person in the party needs to have a valid NJ hunting lisence. Some of the ranges have been closed so find an updated list. Some private clubs have shotgun fields, but you have to become a member. Good Luck.
  23. MMMMM!!! BEEER!!! NJ has a number of breweries where beer can be thoroughly enjoyed. This is about NJ Breweries, offerings, and opinions. Cape May Brewery, Located a few minutes off GSP Exit 4, open 12-8 every day. They have over 10 different selections. A few IPA's, some pale ale's and my favorite - Honey Porter (sadly they are out of this at the moment) They also brew their own root beer (alcohol free and very good). Definitely worth the trip but very busy on the weekends. Tuckahoe Brewery is currently in Dennis Twp, off exit 18 of the GSP (They are moving to Egg Harbor Twp soon). They are only open Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. They offer a few brews of decent quality, sometimes a coffee stout that sells out quickly. If you are in the area it's worth checking out, personally I wouldn't go way out of my way for their current offerings. Glasstown Brewery is in the Millville Airport complex. Open Thursday through Sunday, they have about 10 different selections; some IPA's and Pale Ale's, sometimes a good stout. This place is very good and worth the trip. Some Saturdays there is a BBQ outside (Not associated with the brewery) that offers some good food. My wife and I are planning a brewery tour in fall or early winter. Maybe a NJGF brew tour........
