  1. It's funny 'cause my wife got me interested. We had a couple of rifles and a shotgun but no handguns. One day she said to me that she thought it was time for her to have a handgun. I agreed but cars were more of my 'thing' and I didn't get too excited. Well, she ended up buying a S&W 686. We both shot it at the range and the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. So here we are with a S&W 617, Sig P226 (9mm and .22lr conversion), and a Beretta Nano. She shoots all of 'em. We shoot at Bob's Little Sport Shop in Glassboro and most of the time there are as many women as men.
  2. I had seen news reports about this. It's just incredible how far that things have gotten out of hand.
  3. I signed a petition for Beretta which in turn was sent to legislators in Maryland. Several legislators actually sent replies. One reply included this link to testimony by several Sheriifs and a veteran. It's really worth watching.
  4. I bought some from Biden Sporting Goods and it was very expensive.
  5. Before I wrote this, I tried to find the rates for newspaper ads. Every paper that I tried wanted you to call or write for a rate. Before doing anything like that I wanted to see if we had any interest in this idea. I was hoping that someone might have an idea what the cost would be. I like the idea of a PAC. Her's what I found about PAC's. The Definition of a PAC or “Continuing Political Committee” As defined by NJ Statute, A “Continuing Political Committee” (CPC) includes any group of two or more persons acting jointly, or any corporation, partnership, or any other incorporated or unincorporated association, including a political club, political action committee (PAC), civic association or other organization which in any calendar year contributes or expects to contribute at least $4,300.00 to aid or promote the candidacies of any individual, or the candidacies of individuals, for elected public office, or the passage or defeat of a public question or public questions, and which may be expected to make contributions toward such aid or promotion or passage or defeat during a subsequent election, provided that the group, corporation, partnership, association or other organization has been determined by the Commission to be a continuing political committee in accordance with N.J.S.A. 19:44A-8(b).
  6. I read a post that talked about a meeting in Morris County. There were a number of comments about the NJGF member who talked about buying a gun in New Jersey. Those who heard him and posted in approval felt that a number of people seemed to be greatly influenced and educated by this. So, I've been thinking (dangerous, I know ) could we 'craft' a statement about the subject of buying a gun in New Jersey. Include the current laws and time periods, etc. NJGF could post it to Facebook and we could all share it. Another idea might be to take out a large ad in a few newspapers throughout New Jersey. The idea is to get some of the people who don;t know much about guns on our side. Many of these people hear the word 'gun' and instantly think bad things. I know this would be a big expense but it might be worth a try. If we could 'soften' the subject a little. Maybe we could even throw in our objections to some of the pending legislation. After all, I really believe that our objections are sound. Good idea? Bad idea? I'm just looking for an idea that would sway some people to our side. I'd be willing to contribute to the cost of the newspaper ads.
  7. I've bought from Paul and at Bob's. I like both places a lot.
  8. My compliments. Your rebuttal is very well stated and obviously took a great deal of research.
  9. Welcome. Hope you join us with e-mails, letters and petitions to our legislators.
  10. Thanks to all of you who attended. Sounds like a good showing.
  11. Here's a pic of my 5906 TSW. Similar but it has a rail.
  12. My hat is off to you for a very good letter. Nicely done! The response is encouraging and appreciated. I won't forget his name.
  13. In the 'statement' it reads" This bill also would reduce the maximum capacity of a legal ammunition magazine in this State to seven rounds. Under current law, it is unlawful to own or possess an ammunition magazine that is capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition. section The way I saw this was a way to sneak in a ban that would include semi-automatic handguns.
  14. If it helps, here's a summary list of the bills. I'm working on a letter now. I'm doing it as suggested in a previous post. List each bill and note my objection. I'm focusing on the fact that they don't address gun violence or criminals and penalizes those obeying the law. Below are brief descriptions of anti-gun bills heard by the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee yesterday: Assembly Bill 588 (Spencer / Coutinho / Deignan) – Prohibits possession of ammunition capable of penetrating body armor. Assembly Bill 3754(Cryan / O’Donnell / Quijano) - Requires firearms seizure when mental health professional determines patient poses threat of harm to self or others. Assembly Bill 3772(Eustace / Wagner / Vanieri Huttle) - Requires that firearms purchaser identification cards display picture and mandates that firearms purchaser identification cards be renewed every five years. 15. This is amazing stuff. Sure hope we can find a way to use this. Maybe a gun friendly news source. I saw some talk about a billboard the other day...wouldn't this make a great one. It might even help just have some one whisper in his ear that we're talking about it.
  16. I posted something in another thread on the subject but thanks to all who attended and testified. I listened to most of the testimony and it was great. Near the end one person on committee thanked a person testifying and said " we agree to disagree". At that point I knew it was already decided. I'm not sure exactly what the vote today did. Did this vote send all the bills to the assembly floor? Any chance that the Assembly or Senate vote will be in our favor? I thought that I had read these bills could not pass in the senate.
  17. I have a S&W 617 and it's my favorite gun. My daughter has a Ruger SP101 and it's also a very nice gun. The 617 has a better trigger maybe.
  18. First, thank you to all who attended and testified. Second, it makes me very proud to be associated with this group. I listened to most of the testimony on the internet and I was able to associate a few people by name or reference. In regards to Pizza Bob's post where he said " It was a woman testifying and while she was testifying the chairman was having a side conversation. She took considerable umbrage at that and really took him to task. Stopped in the middle of her testimony, waited until he stopped, and then told him that if he wanted us to respect him he had better accord us the same respect. It was getting quite heated when the chairman used a technique he had used all day - telling her that her time was up. He had to repeat it several times, louder each time, and she finally retorted, in her best Jack Nicholson manner, "No. Your time is up in November." Which just brought the house down." I also liked when the chairman told her that it was 'HIS' meeting she quickly corrected him that it was 'OUR' meeting and it's in 'OUR' building. She really set him straight. Millsan1... that was a great statistic that you added. Thanks again to all. '
  19. Thank you! Well done. Your speech was excellent. Thanks to all who attended.
  20. I've been waiting almost 2 months for a p2p. I've never waited longer than 5 weeks before. I knew it would be longer this time but this is really slow.
