  1. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of people getting sprayed with wasp spray. You may be better off urinating on them...
  2. NJ has always been home to me, and there are many people, places, and things about this state that I will greatly miss... (There are also many that I will not) Thank you to all of the members of this forum that guided me through the treacherous process of gun ownership in NJ from the very start. I will probably continue to haunt this site, though.
  3. What? That's impossible, drugs are illegal in NJ.
  4. What makes this especially interesting is how this muddies communication. Unicode is only a character encoding, so emojis behave like text. The image is drawn on the client (viewer) side of the software. It's not like sending a picture. Assuming the purpose of changing the icon is to reduce its use as a threat, it's only effective if it's changed everywhere. Now if I intend to send a water pistol emoji to someone and their client draws a handgun, it can (and has) been interpreted as a threat. On the other hand, if someone intends to threaten another with a pistol icon and it is rendered as a water gun on the other side, it's no longer defensible as an overt threat, despite the fact that was the original intent behind the message. Fun, right?
  5. If you've ever driven a German car from the 80s, you know the pain of lacking cupholders. I always just assumed being anti-cupholder was a European thing.
  6. Are they going to change the sword to a letter opener too?
  7. Don't waste that opportunity to practice with it!
  8. Guys, wasp spray doesn't work at all. You're better off pissing into your attacker's eyes (I seem to recall that being government-sanctioned advice). There's a video floating around somewhere of a man spraying himself in the face with it twice, he doesn't even flinch. I can't find it. But I did find this, which demonstrates the same thing.
  9. What a shame... spending more money to fix a bridge that's going to be replaced anyway.
  10. Do you also get upset when the local bar runs a ladies' night?
  11. There's two sides to this argument, too. The first is that profiling is a stark reality that isn't going anywhere, and to ignore its existence is to bury one's head in the sand. The other is that your fundamental rights aren't dependent on what you decide to wear that day. It's worth considering the next time you decide to head out to the range after a rough day of painting the house.
  12. Came here expecting to read about a new hamburger offering somewhere in NJ. I leave somewhat disappointed.
  13. While I agree with what you're saying, that would be an impossible political sell. Can you imagine the smear campaign? "So-and-so wants to close all the schools and lay off thousands of hard working teachers!" And it would be technically correct.
  14. Can anyone recommend a reputable VW/Audi tuner that works on TDIs?
  15. Nah it's real chocolate. They just use viscosity modifiers to prevent it from melting. Did you get 5w30 flavor?
  16. A3666 - Prohibits mail order, Internet, telephone, and any other anonymous method of ammunition sale or transfer in New Jersey. Perhaps someone should tell them it's not anonymous. A3689 - Requires security guards who carry weapons to wear certain uniform, including identification card. Requires security guards to wear a day-glo sign reading, "Shoot me first!" A3752 - Requires firearms to be unloaded and securely locked or stored within home. Who needs a pesky warrant? A3773 - Increases firearms purchaser identification card and permit to purchase a handgun fee. Can't have those ghetto residents buying handguns now, can we? A3788 - Codifies regulation exempting firearms records from State's open public records law; abolishes common law right of access to these records. Hey, at least we can find out who's getting those carry permits in NJ, right? A3995 - Prohibits installation of gunfire locators on utility poles. Wait... what?
  17. Vermont is the last bastion of 2A rights in New England, for sure
  18. If the thermostat is easy to take out, put it in a pot of boiling water. It should open as it heats up. If it doesn't, that's the most likely cause, and cheap to replace.
  19. Who is paid to protect us? First I've heard of it... The police are paid to enforce the laws. Whether or not that involves protecting citizens is up to each department (and ultimately each individual officer).
