  1. Does anyone know of a dash cam that you can hard wire in? I have an auxiliary fuse box that I installed.
  2. I've fondled a couple 5.11 flashlights and they left me unimpressed. YMMV.
  3. New London. Okay so my NH geography is off. I must have been thinking about something else I was looking up. I will be just a hair over an hour away from the Academy. I've shot a decent amount, but never gotten official training like this. If you go there often, we'll have to attend the same class sometime.
  4. I'm glad you posted good reviews about this. Once I leave Guam, I'm going to be living in NH, about 2 hours away from the Academy. I saw their large variety of courses, but wasn't sure of the quality. Looks like I'll be spending a decent amount of time and money there.
  5. The title of this thread should be changed to the Political Humor Thread.

From HK too: https://hk-usa.com/hk-models/sp5k-2/ Now, being legal in NJ is a different story.
  7. I have 2 pairs of the SI M frame 2.0 that I got from work. I love them, very comfortable. I don't intend to spend the money to upgrade to the 3.0.
  8. Do you understand the premise when people say "I lost all my guns in a boating accident"?
  9. You clearly don't understand the implication in my statement. The fact that it is a storage unit rented and paid for in your name is a BENEFIT as there is PAPERWORK which makes the reason of missing guns LEGITIMATE.
  10. Hmmmm....anyone else thinking that this could be the new boating accident?
  11. One Second After is a good book. Not really about prepping, but does portray a community during a societal collapse. It's a three book series. The second book is also good. The third, not so much.
  12. Make sure you do the research before dropping the hammer on a blower attachment. For the price of the attachment, you could likely get a smaller snowblower that would still be big enough to handle the snow that NJ gets. On top of that...unless things have changed, you have to drop the deck in order to install the blower. May not be worth the trouble.
  13. I have relatively low experience carrying (approximately 3 years, with 2 firearms). I for one love my 1911...but I wouldn't want to carry it. That's me though, and different people are different. What works for me is a simple kydex holster, with an undershirt tucked in, and a t shirt on top. I don't find kydex all that uncomfortable. Other options have worked for other people. Certainly look for opinions on what other people have tried, but don't be afraid to buy a couple different types of holsters and try them out. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for with holsters, don't go with any ebay/no-name brand.
  14. Nice, thanks for answering my question and then some. I haven't lived inside the CONUS since these became a thing, although I have not been blind to their popularity. With their growing popularity, and typical use, I wouldn't be surprised if they reversed their decision. It's a shame, because like you said, it's pretty dumb to begin with.
  15. Gun laws are not bad. Gun and ammo prices are horrible though. $175 for 500rds of 9mm is the best that I can get, by far....and I paid $520 for my Shield. Purchase is legal with a firearms ID. No hoops to jump through...just a form, fingerprints, and a background check. CCW can be obtained after getting that. You need to show some sort of proficiency with a firearm. I brought in a copy of our most recent gun shoot, with a "Q" under M9 next to my name. They accepted that. Pretty much the only thing they actually regulate here is you can't have select fire, a suppressor, and they require registration. The range selection isn't great either.
  16. Speaking from personal experience trying to carry a large handgun (FNS-9), residing in a warm climate (Guam), in an Alien Gear holster (Tuck 2.0). Don't do it. I don't know what kind of body build you are, but that's a pretty bad combination. If you were in a climate where you could regularly wear some type of wind breaker or jacket, it might not be that bad. I now carry a Shield with a TLR-6 in a simple kydex holster, with a spare mag on the support side. It's so much better. Also, I wouldn't recommend getting a holster that tries to do everything. It will be a horrible IWB holster, and a mediocre OWB holster at best. Spend a couple extra dollars and get yourself a quality, dedicated IWB holster, and OWB holster. You will be much happier that you did.
  17. Since being deemed legal to shoulder...has anyone actually used these as an arm brace? Serious question. I just don't really see the benefit of using it as a brace over shouldering.
  18. I have no input on "where do I go". As far as "what do I take" though, that depends on you, where you live, what season it is, etc. I live on Guam right now, so my bag would be significantly different than what yours would be. Although I can't tell you what you should pack, I can tell you that you can figure it out yourself. Look at basic outlines that people put together for bags, and start there. Then camp in your living room or back yard. Don't use any water, lights, or anything else...only use what you have in your bag. See what it is that you need, and how much of the consumables that you use. Adjust your bag, and repeat.

    SCAR 17 Prices??

It is...but I'm not sure I'd want to risk accidentally sending a .308 through my vehicle.
  20. Did you bother looking up what 1911's weigh? Your average full size 1911 will weigh ~40oz depending on materials. Also, that weight restriction was there before. So...
  21. Again, why do that for AR mags when 10rd mags are so damn cheap, and MADE to hold 10rds? Then you can clean them or replace parts whenever you want.
  22. I understand that you're not ALL talking about AR mags, but that seems to be what most of the conversation is about. For AR mags, instead of going through all the trouble, why not just buy the 10 rounders? They're likely cheaper than having your current mags altered permanently, you can actually take them apart to clean them or replace parts, and come with none of the potential legal ramifications of "is it actually permanent?". Send your 15 rounders off to a free state, or bag and bury them in your back yard
  23. Well you weren't specific enough that people could give you a reasonable answer. How many guns do you consider to be "within reason" that you plan to expand your collection to? Because if you're going to buy two more handguns and call it quits, then a 10 gun safe should hold everything you have. If "within reason" to you means you need it to hold 43 long guns and 22 handguns, then you'll need something a tad bigger. Do your current, and intended, long guns have any optics or accessories? That reduces the number of firearms your safe can hold. For the same safe, you can store a lot more pump shotguns than you can AR-15's with red dots, flashlights, and lasers. What's your price point? If you're willing to spend up to $2k, that expands the possibilities much more than say...$400. Not that there's anything wrong with a $400 safe, but it makes a difference. How many is "a couple rounds"? Is that 4, 400, 4,000? Are you possibly open to the idea of storing your ammo in a separate locker that is not as secure as the gun safe, but cheaper than buying a safe big enough to accommodate all of your ammo? Do you intend on storing anything other than firearms in your safe? Maybe important and irreplaceable family heirlooms, jewelry, your stamp collection, $50,000 in large, unmarked bills, along with multiple passports? Point is, you need to be at least slightly more descriptive in order to get appropriate responses. People don't need the serial numbers off your firearms, and a blood sample...but you have to give them enough information to answer the question.
