  1. Heres a video of a guy finishing one, its kinda long but it shows you whats involved https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKz2sLJUvGU
  2. Negative, the only accepted ways by the BATFE are welding, 1100 deg silver solder, or pinned and welded over. From page 6 http://www.atf.gov/files/publications/download/p/atf-p-5320-8/atf-p-5320-8.pdf
  3. Sounds like an excellent excuse reason to build an AR for yourself your wife
  4. You were 12 last year? Cause early last year you could get good brass cased 5.56 @ $300 per 1k ($6 a box)
  5. Pffffttt, Whats that thing for? lol. My break in procedure is the same as Vlads, no cleaning, just add oil and a few hundred rounds of ammo. Hell I think the last time I cleaned my gun was some 500+ rounds (mostly steel case) ago, and even then all I did was run a few wet patches down the bore, wiped everything else off and re-oiled it (Slip2000 EWL is the s**t). Gun runs just fine as it is and before the last cleaning it had well over 1k rounds (again mostly steel case) with no cleaning and no malfunctions whatsoever.
  6. Mine should be here tomorrow (ordered 7/27)
  7. Never heard of them, and from what I could find that site has only been around since April or May. With so many reputable companys around now why chance it? What is it that you are looking for?
  8. Im partial to the Magpul MBUS, MOE handguards and a Spikes Dynacomp. Then get yourself a red dot, some mags and enjoy (after finding a decent deal on ammo for it, lol)
  9. Ha, I did mine on the same kind of tray table, but without the luxury of a vice. (didnt feel like going out to the garage to use the big vice, lol)
  10. I would have asked you the same question (but wouldnt have been an a-hole about it). How was he supposed to know what 7.62 you were looking for? x25, x39, x51, x54 etc....
  11. Friends dragged me to see The Pefect Storm That was the last time that happened....
  12. So I guess I should pull the battery out of my phone every night when Im discussing my plans to try to take over the world?
  13. Heres a good step by step guide http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/226782_Assemble_your_own_LOWER__UPPER__FREE_FLOAT__TRIGGER__GAS_BLOCK___Step_by_step_instructions_.html and another one http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/ Heres a good video on how to assemble a lower http://youtu.be/e1omm6jY7Gg This^^^ Building one is alot easier than I thought it would be, my first one took me about an hour or so to put the lower together, now I can do it in around 1/2 that time. And like I said, I built mine over about an 8 month period buying parts here and there when I had some spare cash. Started out with just a stripped lower(~$100), then a month or two later found a lower build kit on sale(~$130) then saved up for about 4-5 months and bought the upper (~$550).
  14. Any updates? How long from when you ordered it did it take to receive it?
  15. I would look into this one, $1k and free shipping http://www.costco.com/Bighorn-B6030EL-Heavy-Duty-Safe.product.11468049.html
  16. The price of ARs is coming back down, if you search around you can usually find a NJ compliant S&W M&P sport for ~$600. So thats what... $250-$300 more than the hi-point? And I understand the money situation, it took me almost 8 months of buying parts as money allowed, to finish building my AR but it was worth it to me. I like the Hi-point carbines but wouldnt trust my or my familys lives to one, IMHO it would be worth it to save up the extra coin and get the S&W if your planning on using it for HD/SHTF.
  17. Another vote for a RIA or Citadel, if it were me Id grab one of these Citadels from Buds http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_1163/products_id/56897/Citadel+8+%2B+1+Round+45+ACP+w5%22+BarrelBlack+Finish
  18. PS4.....but Ill prob wait 2-3 years to get one so they should have most of the bugs worked out by then.
