Pffffttt, Whats that thing for? lol. My break in procedure is the same as Vlads, no cleaning, just add oil and a few hundred rounds of ammo. Hell I think the last time I cleaned my gun was some 500+ rounds (mostly steel case) ago, and even then all I did was run a few wet patches down the bore, wiped everything else off and re-oiled it (Slip2000 EWL is the s**t). Gun runs just fine as it is and before the last cleaning it had well over 1k rounds (again mostly steel case) with no cleaning and no malfunctions whatsoever.

And like I said, I built mine over about an 8 month period buying parts here and there when I had some spare cash. Started out with just a stripped lower(~$100), then a month or two later found a lower build kit on sale(~$130) then saved up for about 4-5 months and bought the upper (~$550).

The price of ARs is coming back down, if you search around you can usually find a NJ compliant S&W M&P sport for ~$600. So thats what... $250-$300 more than the hi-point? And I understand the money situation, it took me almost 8 months of buying parts as money allowed, to finish building my AR but it was worth it to me. I like the Hi-point carbines but wouldnt trust my or my familys lives to one, IMHO it would be worth it to save up the extra coin and get the S&W if your planning on using it for HD/SHTF.
