  1. I don't know the maker, I don't even remember where I bought it. I believe I bought it the last time I was at Oak's from some random table. Regardless, it's a 20" fluted Hbar in .223 Wylde, target crowned that shoots groups from a lead sled of 2-3 FEET at 100 yards. I looked through the barrel and don't see any knicks, gouges, burrs, or dings, but at this point, I'm just frustrated and done with it. Was just curious what I could do with it.
  2. A while back I bought a 20 inch Hbar in .223 Wylde for a SPR build. Ended up finally getting around to build it (after over a year), except the barrel is shooting absolutely horrible groups. After some experimenting, it was determined the barrel is garbage. Is there anything that can be done with it besides keeping it next to my work bench as a club (joking)? I read somewhere it was possible to recut the barrel as a larger caliber. Is this true, and is it cost effective to do something like this?
  3. Picked up a German Dreyse M1907 off Gunbroker the other day. It's a late second variant, and due to it's serial number being so high (242,XXX out of 250K), it was manufactured in 1914 or 1915. Chambered in 7.65mm (.32ACP), it's a surprisingly small gun. "RHEINMETALL ABT. SÖMMERDA" From what I read online, RHEINMETALL is the manufacturer and SÖMMERDA is the town they were based out of. To clean, disassemble, or repair, the entire top of the gun pivots on the screw at the front of the trigger guard, making take down semi-similar to an AR. It was one of the first striker fired guns produced, and the firing pin actually stuck out of the back of the breech block, letting you know the gun was "cocked." When you look at it, it's slide is opposite a modern semi automatic handgun, the barrel is on the bottom and recoil spring on top. When you rack the slide, the rear sight doesnt move, as it isn't actually on the "slide." There's a cut out on the back where the breech block comes out when the slide recoils (I'm not really sure how else to describe this, if you don't understand, see the picture). Some of the proof marks and stamps on the gun... The Crown with the "N" below it apparently is the "Nitro" proof, deeming it safe for smokeless powder. The "GERMANY" stamp I haven't been able to find online, as all the other pictures of German 1907's don't seem to have it. I thought it was a mark put on later for import, but the Googles says they stamp that on the slide behind the serrations, and it says "MADE IN GERMANY." Who knows. More peculiar were the numbers on the magazine ejector lever. On the outside there's a "7," so I figured it was the gun's serial (as mine ends in a 7), but I pushed it forward and looked up the opening created with a bore light, and it appears that "7" is the only digit. Same with the "1" found on the inside tip of the ejector lever, only seen when looking up the empty mag well. It's directly on the other side of the "7" stamp. Google turned up nothing, so I'm not sure what to make of them. Regardless, I'm going to get it checked out by a professional, and if they think it's safe, I'm going to run some ammo through it and see what happens!
  4. I know a lot of people don't like BWCC, and his lead times are a little slow, but Chris has done nothing but great work for all the projects I've sent his way over the years.
  5. I second either Kharis Sepulveda or Tony Simon and Sean Fisher. I've taken at least 3 classes from Kharis (actually where I first met Tony and Sean), and sat in on a basic shotgun class Tony and Sean taught. All of them are extremely knowledgeable and thorough.
  6. in the upper right it has the link for the free 30 day trial, then you can use a coupon code right below it for free ship orders over $50. dunno if you can use both coupons at the same time tho.
  7. Yea, wife bought me one, but mine doesn't have a camera. been trying to figure out how to add one w/o throwing off the balance or making it too heavy, but so far I haven't been able to think of anything
  8. If all goes as planned, in a few hours I'll be snagging a WWI and WWII issued German Dreyse M1907 off Gunbroker. Issued to the Austro-Hungarian army in WWI and then to the Germans in WWII (as a backup gun), where a vet acquired it and brought it back to the states. Not an expensive gun, not a particularly rare gun.... but it's history! And I'm so sick of seeing pieces of history sit in a safe and slowly deteriorate until some unfortunate soul passes, and their family either "plays with it" to destruction or turns it in to the local police station, who melts it. It's the same reason I bought my Mosin years ago, with plans to put it in a modern stock, but never did. Some young man (or woman) used it to shoot at another human being, probably used it to defend their life so they could go home to their family. Some person, probably younger than me, may've lugged this monster of a rifle through a hail of bullets and explosions, scared out of their mind. ...It seemed almost disrespectful to alter it after thinking about it that way.
  9. Article title link from CNN's front page: Motorist kills man beating wounded cop Link to article: http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/12/us/arizona-good-samaritan-kills-man-beating-trooper/index.html Of course they cant say shot on the front page, that proves that firearms can, and are, used positively. A narrative they refuse to believe.
  10. That response would have made me pretty hot too. "Don't let this happen again." Mother f*cker, it wasn't me that let this happen the first time.
  11. Fun useless fact: Last time I heard, the Australian military would pay for it's female enlistees breast implants if they chose to get them, because, as you said, it would increase their self esteem and make them a more confident military employee. You may all now resume normal productive conversation. lol.
  12. I'm assuming you're semi-close to me (Southampton Twp) as I also go to R14. If you need, I have a barrel nut wrench you can borrow if you don't want to spend the $20 on a new one. Have also built many an upper if you try and decide you need assistance, but it's really not that hard.
  13. You can have one if you figure out how to permanently attach the magazine. Would be a PITA to load and is significantly less fun than a real Draco.... but does raise a middle finger to NJ's ridiculous laws. lol. I was going to actually do this with an AR pistol, was planning to figure out a way to permanently fix the mag, and pivot the upper to load the mag, kinda like they do in CA. That way I could have a 10" barrel, hand guard, and sig brace on it. Only reason I haven't is that I don't want to use a p2p on it lol
  14. Where I work is completely opposite. If I had to put a number on it, at least 70-80% of the officers I work with are for civilian CCW in this state. The majority of the time I noticed, if the officer is into firearms outside of work, they are more prone to believing civilians should be able to carry.
  15. I camp in Wharton St Forest at least 3-4x a year. Love that place. My only gripe with it is you're technically not allowed to drink.... but don't act like a douchebag and the rangers won't bother ya.
  16. Post some pix once its completed. Curious about this one. What round is it should it be ballistic-ly similar to??
  17. Some guy who runs a podcast on FB (Firearms Radio, I think?) did something similar w/ an AR. Only lubed it every 1k rounds. Thing lasted impressively long before a malfunction. Only difference was he was using brass cased ammo. Edit: Apparently it was Ballistic Radio that did it. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/12/15/15000-rounds-counting-ar-15-torture-testing-now-sand/
  18. I stocked the shit for 7 years when I was younger.... says Taylor PORK ROLL right on the box. As far as the craigslist transaction, you should feel slightly paranoid going into every transaction with someone you've never physically met in real life before. A co-worker's brother, who was a CO in the county jail, ended up shooting someone trying to rob his cousin during a Craigslist transaction about 5 years ago in Pleasantville. Shit does happen.
  19. as may've been seen in the other thread... BREAKING: Range Bills PULLED From Monday Agenda! December 2, 2016: After several days of gun owner outcry and subsequent dialogue with the bill sponsor, Assemblyman Ralph Caputo (D28) has graciously agreed to hold A4179/A4180 to allow for continued discussion to address gun owner concerns. We also appreciate the assistance of Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee Chairman Daniel Benson (D14) in fostering an environment that will allow meaningful consideration of gun owner concerns. And thank YOU for speaking out and making gun owner voices heard. Please spread the word and make sure our fellow defenders of the Second Amendment know there will be no hearing on these bills on Monday, Dec 5. Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
  20. While I agree that occasionally purchasing something knowing it will eventually be resold won't hurt anything, there has already been a case where a police officer on vacation purchased a glock 19 that was on sale with the intent on selling it to his father-in-law (who is not a prohibited person), and was arrested for it. Even if neither of you are prohibited persons, it's still a straw purchase....
  21. I have refinished multiple shotguns, w/ everything from cold blue to aerosol duracoat. Never thought about semi-gloss bbq paint, you have pics? Very curious how it turned out.
  22. 1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID). 2x P2P / 2x P2P and initial FID 2. Police Department where you applied. Red Lion State Police Barracks 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. Don't remember, it was a new Sgt, not the normal guy. Much more polite and pleasant. 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. I got the call on 12/27, Wife got the call her permits and FID were done on 11/22 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). Normal Docs 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). Wife and I submitted same day. I applied for 2 purchaser permits, she applied for 2 permits and her initial FID. I submitted all my paperwork and she submitted her initial paperwork on 9/26, she turned in her fingerprint papers on 11/05. P2P checks cashed 10/18. Her permits and FID came back 11/22, permits dated for 11/19 (took 14 days for her). I got the call that mine were complete on 12/27, permits dated for 12/13 (91 days from submission to call).
  23. Reading quickly, I thought this said "hamster" and got very VERY confused/concerned. lol
  24. Those Ruger Self Defense 9mm rounds had impressive test results for being non hollowpoints. I got to shoot some that a friend brought, had no issues with them feeding/shooting...
  25. Figures, north Jersey --__-- May still try to get off for at least one of the classes
