    S&W SD9 VE

I have both the S&W SD and the Ruger SR (fullsize and compact) in .40. All are good weapons that eat everything I feed them. The SRs have a much better trigger and an external safety. they also have an adjustable backstrap for a more customized fit. They handle recoil much better than the S&W. My wife is petite and loves her SR40. I assume the 9mm will have even less recoil.
  2. Most of the mainstream media and liberals feels it is more noble to be a deade victim than a live person that defends yourself.
  3. My 2 cents. My Sig 226 is 26 years old. I bought it new in 1989. I have well over 6000 rounds through it without 1 single malfunction that I can remember. She still shoots great.
  4. From one Husky daddy to another, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my two huskies within a year of each other about 7 years ago. I was devastated. It took me 5 years to finally get another (My current picture). He changed everything. Don't make the same mistake I did and wait that long. A new friend can turn horrible grief into great memories of the past and wonderful adventures in the making. Again so sorry for your loss.
  5. McBethr - With all due respect, and although I agree with many of the points you made in this post, what's this "we" stuff? If I am not mistaken New Jersey legislators enacted the P2P and FID nonsense 40+ years ago with no vote from the citizens. We did not create this issue. Progressive elitists did. Unfortunately, we have to live with this unconstitutional situation for the time being. I hope SCOTUS sees it the same way. One can only hope.
  6. This is a pretty thorough review of the M5 http://www.gunblast.com/Armscor-M5.htm
  7. LOL. It actually looks better in person. The reason my wife went for the B6PC was because of my EAA 40 Witness full size. She likes the ergos of the EAA, but it is a little too big for her hands. The B6PC is laid out identically to the Witness, just smaller. It really is a decent little shooter for the money. I'm more accurate with it than my SA XDM 3.8 9mm and it cost half the price.
  8. My wife has one and likes it a lot. So do I. Very accurate and low recoil. The single action trigger is really smooth and light. The double action not so much. I was impressed by the fact that a sub $300 pistol has a chrome barrel with matching serial number. We have put over 400 rounds through without an issue. These included everything from cheap Tula, Remington, and Critical Defense ammo. It handles all of these . I don't think you can go wrong for the purposes you described. Best of luck. Gski
  9. They rent spotting scopes for $4 an hour.
  10. Blue line So sorry for your loss. Any of us that have been through it know what you are going through. Rescue Ridge is a great, all volunteer rescue my wife has been involved with for years. They are very active with pits They are based in Monmouth county and their website is www.rescueridge.com Best of luck in finding your new best friend

    First new pistol

Congrats. They are a great gun for the money. I have had one for almost 2 years. It feeds every thing without an issue. I intalled the Apex trigger and spring kit. The trigger pull was reduced by at least 3 lbs and the reset is much shorter. Well worth the money Enjoy your new purchase. Cheers
  12. I saw the video on Fox news.com this afternoon. I sent the link to Governor Christie's email with a note explaining my point of view of New Jersey's Draconian gun and CCW laws as well as how folks across the country will not elect a candidate that did nothing about them in 2016 I encourage others to do the same.
  13. My wife has the SAR B6 compact in 9MM. It is a great shooter and very accurate. Fit and finish are comparable to my EAA witness .45/.40 full size, which is quite good. The slide, frame, and barrel are all serialized. The barrel is chrome plated. Not bad for a $300 pistol. The ergonomics are great for her (it is a compact, and I have big mitts). We have put 300 rounds or so through it with no issues. It is a fun range gun. It was purchased with the thought of becoming her car gun when we change our primary residence to Florida in a few years.
  14. I'm with you. A Beretta 84 was the first handgun I purchased when I turned 21 in 1985. The pistol was very accurate and beautifully finished. I transferred it to my girlfriend a year later. The good news is I still get to shoot it from time to time because that girlfriend became my bride 21 years ago so it is still in the family.
  15. I picked up the IAC Hawk Pump 9812 12GA Steve had on sale last night. My 1st shotty. Seems to be a great gun for the money. As usual, buying or transferring a gun through Steve comes with laughs and fun conversation.I always seem to meet great folks while I am there. Thanks a always Greg P.S. He made me write this. Just Kidding.
  16. I have a Tanfoglio Witness ploymer full size in .40 S&W. I have put 300 rounds of everything from high end self defense rounds to cheap steel ammo. It fed and ejected all flawlessly. I also have a .45 conversion slide for it. 200 rounds with the same result. Both slides are very accurate as well. The single action is extremely light and smooth. The double action not so much. Cost was $395 for the pistol and $255 for the conversion slide. My wife has the Sar Arms (Turkish made) SARBP6 Compact (CZ 75 compact clone) in 9mm. It is very well finished. We have not fired it yet and I am trying to convince her to come to the range with me as I type this. Cost was $309.I believe the full size BP6 is around the same cost.
  17. My wife has the Shield in 40 S&W. She loves it. Recoil very managable and it is an accurate pistol. My only advice is pick up some mags. Those single stacks empty fast!
  18. JT I was curious way you made the point "These are not the SAR that is made in Turkey". Is there a problem with the SARs? I was looking at their compact version as a plinker for my wife, but will steer away if they are poor quality or unreliable. BTW - I have the Witness P with the full sized .40 and compact .45 slides. Great gun. Very accurate and low recoil.
  19. The SR 40 has a 15 round mag so no need to do any conversions to the mags. I have an SR40c and an SR45. My wife has an SR40. All great guns. I aslo have the Sig 226 in 9mm. Bought mine in 1989 and have never had an issue with it. You cant go wrong with either way you chose.

    New Ruger SR45

I swapped out the spring from my SR 40c and put it into the SR 45. The issue went away. I'm pretty sure it is the spring. Unfortunately, Ruger does not sell the sprin. My only choice is to send the gun back to them to have it replaced

    New Ruger SR45

I have had my SR 45 for 5 months and have put 750 rounds through it. The reason I bought it was because I love my SR 40C. the SR 40C is by far, the best striker fired trigger I have ever had. The pros of the SR 45 are: Feeds everything I put through it (except Ultramax remanufactured, which also had the same result in my 1911 and Sig 220. It is just crap) Good ergonomics that lead to a very accurate pistol. 11 rounds of 45 ACP on tap. The cons. Trigger is not as good as the 40C. Galloway smoothing kit ($60) took care of that. I love the tigger now, so no longer a con. Slide does not always lock back. I think the slide stop spring needs to be replaced. I may send it back to Ruger after I replace the orginal parts. Overall I think the SR 45 is a very accurate, reliable pistol for the money and love shooting it. Cheers Gski
  22. I have the Tangfolio P Witness in .40 as well as the conversion kit in.45. The great thing about the Witness is EAA offers upper conversion kits in multiple calibers and barrel lengths. It is like owning multiple guns with one frame. Both uppers are accurate shooters and feed everything I have put them.
