  1. Kinda cool... U.S. Secret Service Training Guide: Characteristics of the Armed Individual. https://t.co/h3cBMlBV18 https://t.co/b6ihadtOxS
  2. Went by myself to a matinee couple days ago - agree with all of the comments I've read on previous post... Phenomenal! Intense! Politics left out, fantastic! good movie... Bit of "Homeland" meets "Lone Surviver" feel, I thought...
  3. I'm not aware of a Combat Lifesaver, I've been NJ and NREMT since 2001. I've been through several EMT continuous training courses with military combat medics (Army, Navy, and AF ARFF's), Each branch may call them something different, but they're all combat medics - point is, these guys are the shit! They are all just basic NREMT's but their medical direction (and their circumstances) allows them to see more, do more, and experience more. If I was younger and had my commitment to military to do over again, I'd seriously consider it. If a military commitment is more than you are looking for, NJ EMT now runs about 250 hours of training cost of about $2k I always hear Anthony at Gun-4-Hire advertise a trauma first aid class - I'm seeing a lot of Homeland Security Active Shooter Traing starting to pop up (they feature stop the bleeding/start the breathing type classes), there are also American Red Cross CPR/First Aid classes - with the right instructor this class could meet your needs.
  4. I'll go a +1 for Freedom Ammo in Mantua (Gloucester County). Good guy, good staff, has a coffee pot in case you want to stop in and just "shoot the shit". Decent stock of new and used. Don't believe he's a big computer savvy type, when he first opened we told him about this page Not sure if he ever got on.
  5. Welcome aboard! Thank you for your service! Sounds like you're in for all good reasons!
  6. Big part of my growing up - saw him several times at the Spectrum
  7. I looked at two other applications for the easy payment plan life membership. One from a Smith &Wesson Forum, another from Mulical Rifle & Pistol Gun Club, both had the same terms for the extended payment, But it was for the full price $1000 - so that link up top is a really good deal
  8. Little over a year and a half into a 5 year membership - took the extended pay plan to upgrade to Life Member. See a lot of positive and a few negative comments on the NRA - it's a no brainier, on the federal level if you don't support the NRA who are you supporting (or do you feel the 2A issues don't need support)? On the state level we have NJ2AS or ANJRP or both -
  9. Just a little over a year into a 5 year membership - took the Life Membership extended pay plan. I see the NRA issues discussed on this and other forums as "glass half full" - anything to support 2A.
  10. I'd like to hear a few comments on what's different at the range between North and South besides the Jets, the Giants and the EAGLES?
  11. Hummm, I shoot at SJSC - I make most IDPA's there and do some target practice there (It's the range I use when short on time and just want to run a 100 rounds or so). I do my drills (holster work, moving, etc) at MHRPC.
  12. Not a member at USANA (haven't shot there for years), But I live in Gloucester County and work in Salem County. I hear USANA come up as the topic of discussion many times - members, people looking for membership etc. It's a good topic. I belong to SJSC and MHRPC- but I wish the best for any club with a common interest.
  13. For the record, I got no problem with my NRA membership. Sure, I'd be happy if they spent more time and money in Jersey, but I don't second guess their efforts on the national level. There's a lot of misunderstanding out there to overcome (gun sense, Bloomburg, Mom's for the pussification of America). What I do find discussing and revolting, is that every NJ Assembly seat was up for grabs this past election, And only 20 % voter turnout and we lost 4 gun friendlys - now that sucks! And it's that's not the NRA's fault.

    Holsters

Holsters for most, but like a previous poster stated - I use the guns and holsters (and mag pouches) to practice and compete IDPA. You can also holster in your house, just to get used to carrying, you know in case one of these petitions makes it, or The SCOTUS drops a bomb forcing all the states including NJ to honor the Constitution.
  15. http://www.nj.com/gloucester-county/index.ssf/2015/11/cumberland_county_man_has_to_surrender_more_than_7.html#incart_river_index N.J. man has to surrender more than 75 guns, court says A Cumberland County man will have to forfeit a collection of nearly 80 guns as well as his firearms purchaser ID card after investigators found he owned five illegal assault weapons, according to an appellate ruling released Wednesday. In April of 2013, a man identified in court papers as C.L.H. handed his gun collection over to Cumberland County sheriff's officers as part of a domestic violence investigation. The gun collector had not been charged with domestic violence, but his 81‑year‑old father‑in‑law had filed a complaint against C.L.H.'s wife, obtaining a temporary restraining order in the process. The older man told law enforcement that he knew his daughter's husband owned firearms. Investigators searched the couple's home on a warrant, and C.L.H. cooperated, voluntarily handing over four bows, a machete, four handguns and 72 long guns, along with his purchaser identification card. Although he was not charged in the complaint and had no criminal record, the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act meant C.L.H. could not have the weapons in his home while his wife was being investigated. ALSO: Grandfather's WWII rifle is an illegal assault weapon, court rules Five of the guns, including an AK‑47, were classified as assault weapons, and were therefore illegal in New Jersey, the court's decision states. C.L.H.'s attorney sent a letter to the prosecution in December of 2013 announcing the lifelong collector's intentions to transfer ownership of the guns to a dealer in order to avoid having them destroyed by the county prosecutor's office. The domestic violence charges were voluntarily dismissed. A superior court judge authorized C.L.H. to surrender the assault weapons under the 2013 gun amnesty law, which lets residents voluntarily turn in illegal firearms with no questions asked. The judge also said that because C.L.H. had not been accused in the domestic violence case, he should not have had to forfeit the remaining guns. The prosecution appealed the amnesty ruling, however, saying that the weapons had already been seized when C.L.H. tried to turn them over. An appellate panel agreed, and added that the details of the seizure were less important than the fact that it was not legal for C.L.H. to own several of the guns in the first place. MORE: Unlawful weapons charges dropped against N.J. man with antique pistol "By focusing on C.L.H.'s lack of culpability in the circumstances leading to the seizure of his firearms from his and his wife's home under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act...the court lost sight of what was critical — that C.L.H. was in possession of five fully‑functioning assault rifles," the panel wrote. "The knowing possession of an unlicensed, operable assault firearm is a crime of the second degree." C.L.H. will be disqualified from holding a purchaser permit, and the appellate court has ordered the five assault rifles to be destroyed by the prosecutor's office. He will have to arrange to sell the remaining weapons, or they will also be disposed of by law enforcement. The man will not face any criminal charges. 16. Is it too late to get a generic description of the infraction so the rest of us could comment (or even better, learn from it)?
  17. Day off - Union Holiday VOTED - 2A ( sorry brothers, gotta bring some candidates around) Off to the range MHRPC (Cumberland County) Some M1A work, then SA 9mm 1911, maybe some Ruger SR100
  18. Nuke - 35 years - nothing but composite (security metal detectors) - no problems
  19. Blade Tech has a competition pack, comes with holster you can change from paddle to belt loop as you prefer, also has mag holders. Kit comes custom for just about any gun you might shoot in IDPA. I have a set for 3 guns, like them all, wouldn't hesitate to get another when needed. About 3 times a year they advertise a discount, they also discount if you are a IDPA member
  20. Nice post! Hope you don't mind if I copy and paste to a few other 2A friendly places.
  21. Yeah, South Jersey Shooting Club (SJSC) - best of both worlds. It's outdoors, but all ranges are protected, casual shooting as you request, regular classes, And there is competition there when you are ready to move on to it.
  22. 30 Minutes to SJSC, or 40 minutes to MHRPC
