Persuader w/ pistol grip & collapsible stock

Recommended Posts

Hi. New to the board and looking to purchase first shotgun (home defense only). I went to Dick's today and I was told a collapsible stock with pistol grip is not legal in NJ b/c it has 2 of XXX number of criteria making it an assault type rifle. After searching this website and seeing pics of the above subject it appears fine. It also appears the criteria applies to semi-auto shotguns and not pump shotguns...is this correct? If so, does anyone know where is a good place to buy one? Preferably in nortern NJ. I saw it on Budsgunshop.com for $386 plus any fees charged by the local dealer...just never bought a gun over the net and not crazy about the idea. Thank you, Joe.

Welcome to the boards. You're looking for a Mossberg 500 Persuader with a pistol grip? I have a Mossberg 500 with a pistol grip and collapsable stock. 18.5" Barrel as well - it's 100% NJ legal. Dick's is ok for prices - they just had a New England Firearms Pardner Protector 18.5" on sale for $180. It's a knockoff of the Remington 870 and is reportedly very reliable.

Thanks. I just came back from Ramsey Outdoor and the guy there was extremely helpful. They had the Mossberg with collapsible stock and pistol grip, but the stock was not comfortable. It sure does look cool though.LOL I have some thinking to do about the stock, but at least I am 100% confident it is legal. thanks for the help. Joe

thanks, Nick! I was gonna chime in on that :icon_e_biggrin:

I do love my Knoxx SpecOps stock. it's comfy and reduces recoil real nice, makes follow up shots easy to stay on target and less pain in the shoulder. what you can do if you're looking to go that route is just get the cheapest stock option available (like pistol grip only) and buy the SpecOps stock and change it out - it's pretty easy to do.
