I have a lenovo T60p, its a couple years old, takes for ever to boot up and down, but when it's on, its really fast and stable. Cosmetically its pretty durable but then again i baby my electronics. I think the lag on and off comes from the surreal amount of crap programs that come with it since it business orientated. It comes with a lot of programs, i've been slowy turning them all off at boot.

Get a newer SSD disk and reinstall.

and when you buy a computer from a manufacturer these days, for times sake, your almost better off re-formating the hdd and activating windows with your supplied product key, saves you the time it will take to sit there and uninstall all the "branding software" that is included but not wanted.

Yes, they call it bloatware for a reason :)

I usually get the cheapest disk when configuring my laptop because I know I'll have to reinstall it anyway.

The SSDs nowadays are pretty good and price has come down a lot.

Only problem is that the license (product key) you get with the OEM version of Windows doesn't usually work on the retail version of Windows. Plus Win 7 puts stuff in bios too.

If you use Hackintosh/Linux, then it doesn't matter.

For the record, Alienware used to put out well built, reliable, beautiful stuff. When Dell took over, that's when it went down hill. In my experience, something similar happened to HP. Their stuff was reliable and were built like tanks, up until the compaq merger.

Just last week I ordered a Zino HD from Dell for my boss. Thats a media center one. To be connected to a tv. I called in just to ask a simple question, got a rep who just happen to be Russian, he begged ! And I mean begged! Me to order through him so he can get a credit, I said y not I wanna b nice to guy, the sys ended up costing $900 >>> I chk our bank accnt a day later ! They charged us $20 for ordering over the phone !!! WTH. It's not my money but still kindda shady.

On the personal note>>> I build all my rigs. That way I know exactly wats inside and outside. Do I have issues and bsod >>>> of course. I tweak it, I kick it, I lick it and it always works just fine. And if you are putting together top of the line hardware it is actually cheaper, at least that's how it worked out for me so far.

PS the main problem I always encounter is cooling . My last rig I had to try so many setups not even funny. That femaledog still can provide heat to a small Siberian town.

Sorry for wondering off the topic.
