checko 180 Posted September 27, 2011 Looking to join there since its the only one under an hour away. Any feedback? Thanks
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted September 27, 2011 Nice range. Indoor range is up to 25 Yards. Pistols/rimfire only, no magnums (including .22 Magnum). 100 Yard rifle tubes are nice for sighting in your guns. GlennP, MrP, j0n, and several others are members.
checko 180 Posted September 27, 2011 Seems like a lot of hoops to jump through for the application on the site. Anyone know how long the waiting list generally is?

Rifleman1 32 Posted September 27, 2011 It is generally not very crowded and is open 8AM - 11PM - 7 days a week. Several shooting distances are available and marked out to 25 yards.
penthall 1 Posted September 28, 2011 great for indoor pistol, not so much for rifle. NO traveling target system, but about 50% of the time you'll be shooting by yourself.
checko 180 Posted September 28, 2011 I only have a pistol so that's ok. I think im going to try it. The only negative I have heard from a guy at my job was some members are kind of stuck up and give new members an attitude. He said someone tried to take a persons gun from them. I dunno about all of that but its close enough to give it a try.

NJdiverTony 27 Posted September 29, 2011 SCFGPA is a great club... I became a full member last May and I've had nothing but good experiences with other members, even with the "ole farts". Most of the other members that I've talked or hung out with, seem to be very friendly. As long as you don't have an attitude and follow the club rules and safety protocols, then you'll be fine. The indoor pistol range is pretty good, and if you're into archery their outdoor archery range rocks. I recently got into archery and have been spending more time on the archery range than the pistol range, lately. They also have a 100 yrd underground tunnel for shooting high powered rifles, which is ok.

Usually I'm there on Thursday nights shooting archery, but I think the wife has plans for me tonight. If those fall through I will be there.
mrlew 0 Posted September 30, 2011 I am officially a probationary SCFGPA member! Nice place, nice people. Now I just need to find some time to get down there and shoot. The indoor range and facilities in general were much nicer than I expected.

Rifleman1 32 Posted September 30, 2011 The more the merrier I always say... I have been leaving plenty of NJGF targets there every time I go which has been once a week or so. Friday nights are out as they have Jr Rifle shooting going on and a several groups that meet once a month to shoot. I stayed to watch the IDPA intro session one Wed night and it was pretty neat. Rifleman1 32 Posted September 30, 2011 Why don't you SHOOT at one of the IDPA matches? The matches conflict with Church on Sunday mornings.

I'll be traveling to Mexico on business next week (don't get me started on that) so I'll miss that meeting but plan on attending the November meeting. And I live for work days! checko 180 Posted October 1, 2011 Is it mandatory to be an NRA member in this club?
dgstinner 11 Posted October 1, 2011 Is it mandatory to be an NRA member in this club? It is not mandatory to be an NRA member in order to join SCFGPA. If you're not currently a member of the NRA but would like to be, you can save $10 by signing up through SCFGPA.

checko 180 Posted October 1, 2011 You DO need proof of firearms training and an FID card. Yeah I have that. I just use my certificate from my NRA basic pistol training right?
