The New Attorney General Nominee

Recommended Posts

There was another thread, but I can't find it.

From the tone of some of the comments, I didn't read that he may be worse, but not to expect changes. Will have to wait and see, I was looking for info on him, but my googlefoo is a little slow today.

Jeffrey Chiesa is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on commercial, environmental and intellectual property litigation, as well as white collar criminal defense and internal investigations.

Prior to joining Wolff & Samson, Jeff worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of New Jersey from 2002 - 2009, last serving as the executive assistant U.S. attorney. He also served as counsel to the U.S. attorney and as the chief of the Public Protection Unit. Jeff was involved in all aspects of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including the management of the Criminal, Civil, Appeals and Special Prosecutions Divisions. As a unit chief, he supervised a group of assistant U.S. attorneys primarily responsible for the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases involving bank robbery, child pornography, human trafficking and identity theft.

Before holding these leadership positions at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Jeff served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Special Prosecutions Division. In this position, Jeff prosecuted a number of significant public corruption cases against state and local officials, including former New Jersey Senate President John Lynch and Harry Parkin, the former chief of staff to the Mercer County Executive. He also led the prosecutions of the former head of the Newark Department of Sanitation and the former director of facilities for the Paterson School District. Before joining the Special Prosecutions Division, Jeff served in the Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted a number of significant white collar fraud cases, including a multimillion-dollar Medicaid fraud case.

Prior to serving in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Jeff was a partner at Dughi, Hewit & Palatucci, P.C. where he litigated and tried health care, professional negligence and securities cases, as well as other civil matters.

It's a shame Christie is a Republican. If he was a Democrat, it would be pretty easy to vote him out next election. But since we know the Democratic challenger will be even worse, we're stuck with Christie.

The democratic challenger may be Steve Sweeney. An admitted 2A supporter.

Maybe we should try and get Corzine or McGreevy back, because they were so much better.

How were they any worse? Believe me I could not stand both but please tell me how? My property taxes went up another $350 this year and I don't get any property tax rebate. In essence I am paying [even] more. I had to pay another $2000 out of pocket for state income taxes...what? Like I don't pay enough already. My car insurance is now $7200 for our family of 4 because or government regulations and spreading the wealth. How has Christie changed that? I could go on and on...But please, please tell me what has changed for the better. Maybe I am missing something?

I had my house on the market for 6 months to get out of this hellhole but who wants to move to a state with the highest taxes? 2A rights are stagnant, etc.
