Does anyone else hate the Search function on our forum?

 

It doesn't let me put any word in search with less than 4 letters...

 

How am I supposed to search for Ruger LC9, KEl-Tec PF9, Glock G19, 308, 9mm, LCR, etc., etc.

 

It's extremely annoying....

use google with site specific function

go to google and enter

*search term* site:njgunforums.com

 

Just replace *search term* with your search terms

I've been using google. I curse all forum search functions with lame-tastic search rules.

Good luck finding a forum that will allows <4 character search. I belong to dozens of forums, running different sofware. None of them allow for 3 or less characters to be searched for. It sucks when your searching for something like "617". Normally, I'll add what I think is relevent like "wesson 617" or something like that. Worse case, use Google Advanced Search.

Put what you're searching for in the top line and on the very bottom line, the domain/site that you're searching for. Something along the lines of http://njgunforums.com/forum in the domain name at the bottom.

I tried searching for sig p226. I get the error because of the 4 letter limit or whatever...

 

So I try "sig p226", and I get:

 

No results found for '"sig 226"'.

let me see what I can do to tune it. In the old one, you were able to. =)

"p226" works. =) Will be updating hopefully to 3 char for searches... and will see how it plays out on server loads. next on the project. =P

the other thing, going forward, is to use forum tags.... then all you have to do is click on the tag, and it will bring up other like topics... say WTS, Sig, P226, etc.

Good catch. It works with 2 letters also.
