stiff mag release - trimming spring?

Just installed a wilson combat extended mag release in my STI 1911, Functions fine but is a little stiff.

 

Would it be ill advised to " trim " the spring to loosen it up a bit to push easier?

IMO try to run it a bit and see if it will loosen up just through wear before chopping off coils.

It might not be the spring, it might need fitting and be binding up a bit.

The fitment is perfect, it slides in and out freely, not rubbing on anything...

 

I did notice that the " groves " cut into them are slightly different. the latch that protrudes out the tiny screw would sink down a small bit on the old one, where on the new one it doesn't have the grove cut down, so the latch stays a little higher... I assume this puts more pressure on the spring since it doesn't have as much space to work with.

It's not a bad gun, it can do double work as a HD gun but wrong caliber.

Oooh, nice man. 9mm? I want a 9mm 1911. Personally that is somewhat best of both worlds for me.

I like the 9mm round and 1911 is my favorite platform to shoot.

Will make a nice gun for steel. Would have to double check but it may even be good for production division in USPSA.

Yeh, it's some sort of plastic, doesnt bother me though. doesnt feel too cheap.

 

I ordered some various wolf springs for adjusting tension on the mag release, I do notice that sometimes while inserting a full mag when it hits the catch its a little rough, I think the tight spring attributes to that, but i want to get the lighter springs in before i start polishing up where the mag makes contact with the catch.
