  1. 1. M9A1 vs SP01

So I've been wanting to purchase a full size 9mm handgun no plastic

I already have 2 compactish handguns in the fnp and fns

Now I've narrowed it down to the M9A1 & SP01.

I like that their modernized/updated versions of their tried and tested OG older brothers.

I haven't shot either and I've only fired the 92FS.

M9A1 attracts me because it's what our military uses. Also it already comes ready to go with 15 round mags.

SP01 is nice because I believe the sights are replaceable and can already come with night sights. Downside being it's either 10 round or 18 round and get it fixed.

What would you do?

Only thing that sucks right now is no one seems to have these in stock right now, what gives?

I own an M9A1, and I love shooting it. Gun feels great in my hand.

I bet NJFAG in Rahway has one in stock, although perhaps closer to MSRP than you'd like to pay...

There's a guy on Brian Enos who fired about 7,000 rds without cleaning an SP01 and just lubricated it for a year. He showed pics of how dirty his SP01 got without a failure. See link below.

My vote goes for the CZ SP01. I will be purchasing one in the future. My CZ SP01 Phantom has fired about 4,000 rds without a hiccup.

My .2 cents.

I vote for the CZ as well. Never thought highly of CZ before I owned one, and I had a Beretta 92fs and a lot of other guns. Yes the Beretta is nice looking, planning on getting a m9 just for the straight dust cover :) but the CZ is better at everything else. CZ is one of the best in terms of ergonomics and performance.

Ok, I was leaning towards the cz and you've all swayed me further towards that direction.

My question now is between the 2 models: standard and tactical

Correct me if I'm wrong is the standard safety only and tactical decocker only?

Is there no model with safety and decock?

I will save the M9A1 for a future purchase I suppose.

I just got a 92fs a couple of months ago and I'm still debating on getting either a CZ75 Shadow or a CZ75 SP-01 Shadow. Both are all steel, frame mounted safety but the SP01 has rails.

Deni - you're welcome to try my 92fs.
