If I went to Argentina, I would be looking for a Bersa 22/23 and a Ballester Molina 1911. I wonder if it is possible to purchase guns out of the country and have them shipped to an FFL in NJ?

Sounds like a fun hunt and definitely one for the bucket.

I would snoop around on the Shooting Sportsmen forum or on the Shotgun Life website. I have seen posts on SS relating to Argentina and Uraguay for dove and also combo hunts with perdiz and ducks.

Just remember that whatever lodge you stay at, make sure they can get you the particular shells you want to shoot, especially if you are bringing one of the smaller gauges. You can bring firearms into Argentina for a fee but not shells. And for dove, I suspect you'll be using a lot of shells.

That sounds spectacular. The RBL's are a nice SxS.

sorry dont have any details on an actual hunt but most dove places will let you rent shotguns for the day. seems like your deadset on taking those doubles...I would as well! best of luck to ya! sounds like a great wife. show her some pamphlets on pheasant hunts in north dakota! :maninlove:

Doves are engaging. Tough to hit and they will test the best of shooters. Once the season starts (at least here in the States where I've hunted them) they become wary after opening day. Camouflage is a must late-season as well as reducing your silhouette. It doesn't appear like they have these issues to contend with in Argentina.

If anyone has more info on pricing for a trip like this, can you direct me to where to find that info please.

I'm going send a head's up to my travel club and see if they can look into putting together trips for or like this being they have a section of trips for just hunters and fishermen.

Update to my last post, They did put a two trips together, but not part of our regular Hunting and Fishing Line of Vacation adventures.

What they did was do a special promotion and Auction for the Manifest Foundation we are associated with, with the funds going to help.

Will update if and when they ever make a regular vacation trip out of it.

By the way, I doubt it would cost anything close to it, but 2 the 2 trips went for 7k and 8k with the 1st person who won the first one giving the trip back for auction and just donating the 7K he bid, just for the cause. Pretty cool in my eyes.

just got back today can not say enough good about c&c outfitters.so many doves you hoping for for a break 2075 rounds in 3 days with a double.the local ammo is kinda dirty and recoil is heavy as far as 20 ga shells go.You could easily shoot 1,200 rounds a day .Anyone looking for a trip like this i'd recommend c&c outfitters

for the asado.my son said the same thing,as we were shooting a herd of cows walked up and started drinking from the stream and never left. The funny thing about this is as you are shooting 3 to 6 times a minuet  none of the other animals are concerned horses, cows, eagles, hawks not even the dogs

Went to Argentina last year as part of my MBA study.  I was only in the city areas, Buenos Aires mostly, but really wanted to see the country side.  Had one of the best steaks of my life there.  We were only there for about 2.5 days (flew to Brazil for the other 2.5) and I would love to go back some day.

    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
