A-Tech 8 Posted November 15, 2012 I bought my first Glock as a birthday gift to myself on Tuesday. Went with the FDE G17 and I really like it. It shot better than I expected out of the box. I don't need to go on and on about a Glock, it's a bit redundant. Just happy with another successful gun purchase.
checko 180 Posted November 15, 2012 Congrats on your purchase. Not a big fan of Glocks myself but they must be popular for a reason.

lunker 274 Posted November 15, 2012 I have gone back and forth on Glocks, and finally come to appreciate them (and own one again) for what they are. They are not fancy. I'm not sure there is much pride of ownership. But they are reliable and simple and accurate (enough). I can break any model down to its smallest parts and put it back together with a small punch. Breakages and stoppages are very rare. Parts are cheap and easy to come by. If you handed it to someone even mildly acquainted with firearms, they would be able to shoot it competently. Glock is the Chevy/Ford Truck of the gun world. If I want to get really good with just one handgun, it would be the Glock.
Arbelest 29 Posted November 15, 2012 Nice purchase I'm always a fan of two-tones.
Clintoon Eastwood 2 Posted November 15, 2012 +1 - like the "TITLE" But the only glock I want in my life would be this (seriously though, I would like to own a glock in the future and by the way Awesome pick of the 2 tone)

Krdshrk 3,882 Posted November 16, 2012 Only thing I can think of is that the dyes they use to color the plastic can weaken it..... A lot of people have seen that with Magpul PMags.....
A-Tech 8 Posted November 16, 2012 They dye it black too don't they?
blksheep 466 Posted November 16, 2012 With seeing literally thousands of guns go bang a year we have less failures with Glock than any other gun.
High Exposure 5,684 Posted November 16, 2012 They dye it black too don't they? I am unsure about the polymer used in Glock frames, but black is the "natural" state of the polymer used in PMags. According to Rich Fitzpatrick the Polymer King of Magpul, to make other colors, FDE, OD, FG, etc... The addition of a different colored material/dye is added, this can cause weakness and inconsistencies in the final molded product.
Krdshrk 3,882 Posted November 16, 2012 Pretty sure black is the natural color for glock frames too.
A-Tech 8 Posted November 16, 2012 Well I guess I'll find out than. Not really too worried about it. I'll try not to let it bake in the sun and then go toss it around or anything. I'm sure it will be fine.
