Remington 870 Express Tactical Stock Replacement

Recommended Posts

I'm in the market for a replacement stock for my Remington 870 Express Tactical 12-gauge. Not sure what I want totally, but it must be of the synthetic style with a pistol grip. I wouldn't mind something that had a shoulder mount as part of the stock, assuming it was removable. In addition, the ability to store/mount some shells on it would be nice too. My goal is to shorten-up my 870 a bit to make it more manageable in a closed-quarters/HD/SD situation. Show me what you got, what you like and what you'd recommend.

I'm currently perusing the "Post Your Tactical Shotgun" thread to get some ideas as well.

I run one of those on one of my 870's. It really cuts down on felt-recoil and allows faster follow up shots.

They also offer one that's like a plain M4 stock without the recoil-reducing mechanism.

ETA: My mistake. I have the first generation stock: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KICH6A/ref=wms_ohs_product

I have no idea what the differences are.

Also take a look at this thread:

I'm sure RayRay will also be along shortly to tell you that pistol grips are stupid, and Scrap will write a new love poem about his magpul stock along with a cheesecake-ey photo essay and centerfold... :p

The Magpul stock is the bomb.

Worth every dime. Now i actually typed out a poem but I deleted it because I don't really like to show off , believe it or not.

What would the gun be used for? How tall are you? What's wrong with the original stock?

HD/SD only. Nothing wrong with it necessary. I think I have it narrowed down to either the straight Hogue 11" LOP stock or the Choate Mark 5.

Does anyone have experience with any of these Mako products? That 2nd one is quite pricey at $280 and change.

I really think of all the stocks I've looked at online, the one that I like the best is this Remington ShurShot. The only thing holding me back is whether or not this will impact using my stock iron sights, in the case of my Express Tactical, the XS Ghost Ring. I've read mixed reviews where some say that the stock iron sights are fine and other have said they are not.

Yes, bought and installed that one. See here: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/41238-talk-me-intoout-of-a-folding-stock-for-my-870/page__view__findpost__p__564615

You can regularly get it for ~$230 if you look around a bit. I got it for just over $200 at the Mako black Friday sale:

Just went through this same decision myself. The stock that came with my 870 express synthetic is just a little long for me. I didn't want an AR style setup, it's a shotgun not an AR. Then I saw Scrap's Magpul setup and I like it. I ordered the set today.

that's the stock you want
