22LR slide & barrel conversion kit for 1911- any experience?

Recommended Posts

I have an advantage arms kit, it is the only kit that i know of that locks back on last round. I have used it on an STI and a Sig frame with no problems. I did a lot of research and the lock back is what I liked about it and it was hard to find but when I found it I jumped on it. I shoot OBRAMS with it and have thousands of rounds thru it with no problems. This place usually has them in stock http://www.cmcgov.com/store/pc/Advantage-Arms-c214.htm

I have a couple Marvel 22 conversions and I am very happy with them. Very well made and super accurate too. They all come with a test target from the factory of less than 1" group at 50 yards if you order the Unit one model. They do not lock back but they now sell a model that does lock back after the last round fired.

These Marvel units are not cheap but I think they are the best on the market. If you decide to sell it you will recoup most of your investment.

Right now they are having a 10% off cyber sale which helps a little

Great feedback. I did not even think one would not lock back which I would prefer. I will check out the Advanced and Marvel. My inexperience is showing. What is OBRAMS?

My recommendation would be to just burn a permit on a GSG/Sig 1911, as one can be had for virtually the same price.

OBRAMS stands for Old Bridge Rimfire Action Match Shooters, and is a .22lr-only action league that shoots matches at OBRPC.

How accurate is the GSG 1911? Better, worse or on par with say a ruger buckmark or mk3?

Worse than the buckmark or mk3 IMO. Good enough for a run-n-gun fun weapon, but I wouldn't shoot bullseye with it.
