Marksman957 0 Posted November 28, 2012 I have a Kimber Custom II 1911 45 Auto and was considering the .22 LR slide & barrel conversion kit. It seems like an easy way to own a 22 pistol without waiting for a new permit. Does anyone have experience with these?
jvheitz 5 Posted November 28, 2012 I have thousands of rounds through the kimber conversion kit on my gold match ii. I love it, never had any issue. I shoot it in practice, obrams, and steel matches. The only thing I dont like is the slide does not lock back after the last round.
checko 180 Posted November 28, 2012 I want an advantage arms kit bad but they are almost always sold out. From the reports I've read online they are top notch. This one does lock back which I like.
FLHX 1 Posted November 28, 2012 I have an advantage arms kit, it is the only kit that i know of that locks back on last round. I have used it on an STI and a Sig frame with no problems. I did a lot of research and the lock back is what I liked about it and it was hard to find but when I found it I jumped on it. I shoot OBRAMS with it and have thousands of rounds thru it with no problems. This place usually has them in stock http://www.cmcgov.com/store/pc/Advantage-Arms-c214.htm
BullzeyeNJ 104 Posted November 28, 2012 I have a couple Marvel 22 conversions and I am very happy with them. Very well made and super accurate too. They all come with a test target from the factory of less than 1" group at 50 yards if you order the Unit one model. They do not lock back but they now sell a model that does lock back after the last round fired. These Marvel units are not cheap but I think they are the best on the market. If you decide to sell it you will recoup most of your investment. Right now they are having a 10% off cyber sale which helps a little http://www.marvelprecision.com/
tony357 386 Posted November 28, 2012 I have a ceiner.....NEVER had an issue...loads of fun....! Arthur Ciener was areseted for fraud, not supplying sold units failure to repair. http://www.bbb.org/c...ral-fl-33000568 http://www.thefirear...-fraud-charges/ I have an Advantage arms kit for the 1911 that works great.. shoots Federal bulk no probs.. SW9racer 262 Posted November 28, 2012 I have a series 1, the Kimber kit then was made by ciener. Runs great with any bulk ammo and is very accurate. I use it for steel and obrams.
Marksman957 0 Posted November 29, 2012 Great feedback. I did not even think one would not lock back which I would prefer. I will check out the Advanced and Marvel. My inexperience is showing. What is OBRAMS?
Jon 264 Posted December 11, 2012 Great feedback. I did not even think one would not lock back which I would prefer. I will check out the Advanced and Marvel. My inexperience is showing. What is OBRAMS? My recommendation would be to just burn a permit on a GSG/Sig 1911, as one can be had for virtually the same price. OBRAMS stands for Old Bridge Rimfire Action Match Shooters, and is a .22lr-only action league that shoots matches at OBRPC.
Steve_G 51 Posted December 11, 2012 I'll second the Sig/GSG 1911-22. It's always nice to have another gun, and beats constantly switching slides. OBRAMS is a blast. Rimfire action matches loosely based on USPSA matches.
fishnut 2,358 Posted December 11, 2012 I have the ciener kit as well and i could not be more happy. I have never had a problem with it even with old crappy zapper lead bullets running through it. It eats what ever i feed it.
msg73 1 Posted December 20, 2012 How accurate is the GSG 1911? Better, worse or on par with say a ruger buckmark or mk3?
Jon 264 Posted December 21, 2012 How accurate is the GSG 1911? Better, worse or on par with say a ruger buckmark or mk3? Worse than the buckmark or mk3 IMO. Good enough for a run-n-gun fun weapon, but I wouldn't shoot bullseye with it.
