shooooot 0 Posted February 27, 2013 I'm not sure if i posted my question in the correct place... also posted this in NJ gun laws... Good evening... Looking to be a new gun owner, I'm a "forum noob" here... I've been taking some lessons out at the Heritage Guild in Easton so that I'm prepared to be a gun owner whenever I get my ID/permits back from the PD.. Anyway... I live in Woodbridge.. Last week of January I submitted the standard application STS 033 The lady at PD took my drivers license and used it to fill out the Mental Health form herself I paid $5 for the ID and $2 each for the handgun permits, cash, got a receipt.. was told they average about 4 to 6 weeks to get the card & permits once the fingerprints are done... could that be true? Was given the form & info for fingerprinting for Morpho track... had to wait nearly 2 weeks for an appointment i could actually get to on time, South Plainfield... setup appointment and paid $57.50 online PD and Morpho told me I do nothing else... that PD gets the fingerprints back from Morpho somehow... so Now i'm just waiting... BUT at my last lesson in Easton, the instructor told me I was supposed to pay $18 by money order for the background check??? he was shocked that I didn't do this and that no one told me this??? is he wrong??? or is woodbridge PD intentionally not telling people about this to delay things??? I'm a 'details guy' and would definately remember if i was told/asked to get an $18 money order, it was never mentioned verbally or on any written document i have please advise on this $18 money order issue?? is it somehow covered by the $57 morphotrack payment?? Dave_D 0 Posted February 27, 2013 I just recently got my FID and permit and only paid for those same things you did. No additional $18 money order so I think you're good.
iRONman 7 Posted February 27, 2013 $18 if you apply for more permits or issue of another card
Maksim 1,504 Posted February 27, 2013 $18 is for next time when you apply for more permits, if the PD wants to do another background check.
Nikos 31 Posted February 27, 2013 The lady at the Woodbridge PD is usually Connie and she is one of the main reasons that the permits are processed so fast. If there's ever a delay, it is most likely due to your referrals or the background check. Compared to other areas, be happy that Woodbridge is your PD. shooooot 0 Posted February 27, 2013 thank you everyone for the answers.. yes connie has been very helpful and seems to be pro-gun and pro-get-it-done
woodentoe 14 Posted February 27, 2013 Be thankful. We live in a legit town who doesn't screw us wit permits. Make sure when you pick up your stuff, you tell Connie she's the best....because she is. The 4 week clock doesn't start ticking until the pd get your prints back from morphotrak. My fid took 6 weeks because of this but I got permits in 28 days. va_bank 0 Posted February 27, 2013 Just filled out paperwork for my father, who lives in Woodbridge Twp. Somehow, he had a lot less paper than I did. Just the standard form and some sheet cerifying that he wasn't ever convicted as a juvenile. I think the reason Woodbridge is fast with their paperwork is because their PD is so big. Where I live... 11,000 people total, almost no crime ever, so the PD probably got overwhelmed.
raz-0 1,259 Posted February 27, 2013 When I was in woodbridge, the average time was around 60 days. I'd expect it to be similar despite moving to morpho because it hasn't been much harder to get a morhpo appointment than it has been to actually catch the guys who did fingerprinting when they were supposed to be in. Ddc2003 0 Posted February 28, 2013 I had to bring my Morpho receipt to my township, it wasnt automatic. Once they got the receipt, it began processing.
woodentoe 14 Posted February 28, 2013 It was automatic in Woodbridge.
Chris08527 0 Posted February 28, 2013 I had to bring my Morpho receipt to my township, it wasnt automatic. Once they got the receipt, it began processing. I had to do this as well, which i wasn't told on intial visit so it delayed me by some time . . .
DSD1026 48 Posted February 28, 2013 They asked me to bring mine on as well but that was more so that they has the number so they could follow up in case they hadn't gotten the prints in a couple weeks.. I actually ended up just giving them the number over the phone
