building an ar how to get the least blast or quietest

So im trying to build an ar that the blast felt to the sides is minimal. what would be the best way to do this? should i do a crowned barrel? or use one the the muzzle brakes that is used to reduce blast? i plan on doing this on a 20" so length will not matter.

A crowned barrel will give you what you are looking for. Brakes direct the gasses to the sides and top some of which you will feel and hear.

A Levang type comp will direct the blast/noise downrange with minimal side blast.

The longer the barrel the less blast... consider a 24" barrel if minimal blast is very important to you

A Linear-type compensator should help. (Like a Levang.)

yea im just trying to minimize blast to make new shooters more comfortable

If new shooters are the reasoning... what about another option: a dedicated .22 upper or .22 conversion for use for the new shooters?

 

Then you can swap uppers or whatever and move up to .223/5.56 when they feel comfortable.

No. I didn't. Just pointed out that I'd rather have something that will keep my muzzle level over something that will keep it quieter or annoy ppl around me.

My ears are sensitive to noise and a 20inch ar barrel is easy on the shooter to begin with, a big difference over a 16 inch.
